Installation of solar panels and Battery done efficiently.

The initial meetings: quote, survey etc went well. It was only during and after installation that things got a bit messy. It turned out the measurement of the roof was incorrect so we couldn’t have as many panels on one roof as we had wanted as there was no room. I was offered a couple of alternative options but at additional costs which, since I wasn’t the one who had made the mistake, I felt was unfair. In the end I could either have fewer panels than I wanted or have the extra panels put on a different section of the roof and pay an additional £250. I then had to wait a week for scaffolders to return to put more scaffolding up. They didn’t turn up on the day they were supposed to so I wasted a day sitting at home from 8am and 5pm. They arrived the following day. The job was completed the following day. I then had to wait 11 days for the scaffolding to come down (still waiting in fact).
The panels seem to be working well. I haven’t received my pack yet with certificates of completion so I can’t sell my excess electricity back to the grid yet which is annoying.
No major difficulties. Having to pay extra, calling the company numerous times to speak to someone about where to put the panels that didn’t fit, waiting for scaffolders, finding out when panel fitters and electricians were coming back, waiting for scaffolding to be removed - all these things were annoying and time consuming.

GSL installed a battery system as an addition to my existing solar panel system.
(1) They connected the solar panel system to the wrong phase of my three phase supply.
(2) They left site without testing the system, otherwise the fault would have been detected immediately.
(3) They didn't install a meter which would have allowed them to monitor the operation of the system remotely.
(4) When I complained (several times) that the panels were not connected to the battery, I was totally ignored. GSL blamed it on the battery supplier's App.
(5) I had to call in a third party (the battery supplier) who diagnosed the faults in the system.

I lost a year's input from the panels: GSL offered me half the value of lost generation, and absolutely nothing for all the time wasted trying to convince them that the system wasn't working.

My summary of GSL's performance: utterly incompetent.

Arron made everything so easy and took the uncertainty out of the process. Explained everything really well and did several quotes in number of panel options and size of system

From start to finish, you can't fault GSL. Their communication and progression updates were exceptional throughout the process and never did I not know what was occurring nor when. From the back office to the installation team, every person was polite, courteous, knowledgeable and went the extra mile when asked a question. Their price was excellent and installation quality is 2nd to none. In a world of untrustworthy tradespeople, GSL are quite the opposite! Thank you :-)

The worst after care experience I’ve ever been subjected to.
Solar panels keep switching off at the sunniest part of the day.
When they were contacted they arranged to send someone at an arranged time.
He didn’t show up, no notification, no telephone call.
When I called, I was offered a pathetic excuse and suggested a second time for the same afternoon - again, no one turned up!
Quite unbelievable!
Clearly a case of “ we have your money, now we don’t care!”

You can tell how good an organisation is by its after-sales service. I needed guidance with the App that governs the battery's AI. They talked me through it all and were happy to do follow up tutorials. In my book, that's the hallmark of a good organisation: their after-sales care.

GSL installed heat pump (via Heat Geek), solar, battery and EV charger. The process was excellent from start to finish:
- Competitive pricing
- Very good communication throughout from Deane, Katie and Zoe.
- All subcontractors (scaffolders, plumbers, solar installers & electricians) were very respectful of the property and did a very tidy job
- Commissioning, testing and final touches were done thoroughly and the few outstanding issues followed up promptly.
Overall a thoroughly pleasant experience and would definitely recommend.

We recently completed a full refurbishment of our house and engaged this company to fully decarbonise the property through the installation of solar panels and a heat pump carried out by their team. The experience has been excellent from start to finish.

Their service is highly professional, with consistent support throughout the entire project and even afterwards. They respond quickly, are extremely well‑organised, and proactively call to schedule appointments and provide updates on the work in progress.

Excellent service throughout our experience

Grant Store Ltd (GSL) came via a recommendation from a recently installed solar and battery installation.

The process from survey through to installation and commissioning was very easy even for a novice to heat pump technology like myself.

The communication was excellent and I was always kept well informed at all stages of the process.

To minimise disruption I decided to keep my original hot water tank which made the install a little more challenging but despite the design of the hot water tank not being optimal for the heat pump and the requirement to opt for the more expensive Vaillant option, to date the system is running with an efficiency of 3.68 and I think this will only improve over time, so I’m very happy with my choice and Deane’s guidance which was invaluable.

I can’t not mention Katie who was outstanding in dealing with any issues I had with speed and efficiency.

The installation team were super quick and did their best, the electrician did a tidy job on the heat pump and his solution for the additional power supply cable for an induction hob was very neat.

The plumber went the extra mile revisiting my home out of hours in his own time to rectify an issue that occurred one evening after some modifications to the installation had to be completed as recommended during commissioning.

Also John who commissioned the system was outstanding and made sure everything was as it should be before signing off the job as complete.

As with any major home installation I did have a couple of minor issues some of which were not really issues to the regular customer, but by my own admission I am extremely fussy and like things done a certain way, and GSL rectified all the issues that I wasn’t comfortable doing myself immediately.

In conclusion I have now had my gas meter disconnected and all being well my home will be warm this winter without any huge gas bills to worry about.

I would whole heartedly recommend Grant Store Ltd to anyone who is looking to invest in a heat pump installation.

This is my second review for Grant Store as they organised the installation of our solar panel and battery system earlier this year. We were so happy with this that were returned for installation of an ASHP and EV charger.

As with our previous experience we found all staff super helpful and friendly, the process was quick, with good communication. The installation went smoothly, with some unforeseen issues also addressed quickly. All fairly priced. We would return for more, but our house is now fully equipped!

The entire process was a positive experience. As a technical enthusiast, I sought comprehensive information to be involved in the design of my system, which includes solar panels, a battery, an inverter and an electric vehicle charger. The team provided excellent communication, addressing all my queries, making suggestions and taking the time to understand my requirements. From the initial enquiry to surveying my property and installing each component of the system has been stress-free, even with an incorrect electric vehicle charger being installed in error. This was promptly rectified with minimal disruption. The entire team, particularly Jamie, Josh and Liam, are a credit to the business.

Dan arrived on time and came to do a 12mth service, but ended up fault finding and sorting a problem we had with the heating. He was very friendly and helpful.

From start to finish GSL have been fantastic, it started with a visit from Ronnie who talked us through everything and answered our questions honestly, the quote was then sent to us with no pressure from anyone, again a quick phone call to the office answered our additional questions. Once we agreed to go ahead we were appointed a project manager (Zoe) who arranged the installation at a time that suited us. The installers arrived on time and were friendly and professional and explained everything(Josh,Alex,Lewis) they left no mess which was great. Since instal we have been pleased with how everything looks and the support and communication from Zoe has been great. The price was also great. I would highly recommend.

This isn’t my first solar installation as my previous home was fitted with a system and that one was a poor experience. GSL on the other hand couldn’t have been more professional and I am extremely satisfied with the GSL Solar Installation process and end result.

From the outset the quotation contact was straightforward, clear, concise and flexible. Follow up calls were helpful and not pushy.

After deciding to go with GSL, the site survey visit was thorough and accommodating of my preferences. The surveyor was considerate and detailed, no doubt helping the installation which also went smoothly.

The office support staff dealt with all the paper work and DNO application. Once the DNO approval was received, a date was set for the install and within a week the scaffolding was up, two days ahead of the system being installed.

The fitting team installed the panels, inverter and battery in very poor weather conditions working hard until the job was completed, all within a day. The attention to detail and regulation compliance was particularly noticeable.

A week after the install the office support followed up with a call and arranged for the scaffolding to be removed which was down a few days later. Communication throughout the process has been timely and helpful.

Even a small change to the panel spec (540W instead to 535W) was followed up with new schematics delivered to my home in person.

The paperwork pack (MSC documents, warranties, user guides etc) arrived when promised and I only await the DNO certificate for my export MPAN which is out of GSL hands.

I thoroughly recommend GSL and would like to thank the whole team.

Our installation was complex due to the loft conversion and flat roof, which did delay things and complicate the design process a little, causing some confusion on which panels to bring and some rescheduled appointments. However, they were very professional about the process throughout and compensated us for delays. Can't fault the work and the engineers were very friendly and helpful. We're very happy with the system now it's complete!

Daniel visited today to fix a radiator leak and delivered excellent service from start to finish. He took the time to make sure everything was working perfectly before leaving and genuinely felt like he had ticked every box. This was a courtesy goodwill call‑out that the team didn’t have to attend, so I’m especially appreciative of the outstanding customer service. Thank you for going above and beyond.

If it’s anything solar these are the ‘ go to ‘ guys nothing was too much. from the original contact to ronnie the surveyor to the installers the office staff and the accounts department they are all superb the install went without a hitch scaffolding was put up Friday the install was done Tuesday the install was done before 1pm that’s 16 panels an inverter and a battery

The one thing I did notice that grant store actually care they actually want to help you get your system installed. The big box companies like edf ,boxt, octopus all give quotes that are drastically more for less kit ie smaller batteries and less panels and then don’t even call you back

My system has been installed 3 weeks now and it’s amazing how much extra I am generating
