I'd like to explain the charges you've mentioned, as there are a few different elements involved.

The £30 excess is optional and is based on the level of cover you selected when you took out the policy this would have been agreed and shown on your policy schedule at the point of purchase.

On the recovery cost, under your cover, repeat breakdowns relating to the same, related, or unresolved fault are chargeable on a Paid Basis. If it's subsequently confirmed the fault wasn't the same or similar, we can look at reimbursing the amount paid for recovery with us, though the charge itself would still have been applied on a Paid Basis at the time.

We haven't received a cancellation request for your policy. If you'd like to go ahead and cancel, please email info@govivid.co.uk and the team will action this for you. In the meantime, we've removed the automatic renewal, so your policy won't renew at the end of the current term.

Please note that if you do choose to cancel at this stage, no refund would be due, as you're outside the 14-day cooling-off period and a claim has already been made under the policy.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear your experience with us hasn't been a good one.

On the battery point, I want to clear up why this isn't covered. If a flat battery is caused by lights, radio, chargers, or other electrics being left on, this falls outside the policy terms. This is a standard exclusion across breakdown cover generally, as it's seen as avoidable rather than a genuine mechanical fault.

On the garage point, any fix carried out at the roadside by a Recovery Agent is only ever a Temporary Repair. We ask that the vehicle is then taken to a garage for a permanent repair, to ensure the fault has been properly assessed and fixed, rather than the same or a related issue recurring.

We've also logged your complaint about your experience and how it was handled. This is now being investigated, and we'll issue a full response in due course.

I just wanted to explain what happened, as it looks like there may have been some confusion about the type of cover you have.

There are two types of cover:

• Vehicle Cover – covers the vehicles listed on the policy, no matter who is driving them.

• Personal Cover – covers the people listed on the policy, as drivers or passengers in any eligible vehicle.

You chose Personal Cover for yourself only when you took out the policy. This means the cover follows you, whether you are driving or travelling as a passenger. However, your partner was not added as a named person on the policy.

Because your partner was driving the vehicle without you being there, she was not covered under your Personal Cover. This is why our team offered a Paid Basis recovery service instead.

If you would like to add your partner to the policy or change your level of cover, you can email info@govivid.co.uk and the team can provide you with a quote.

Please note that any breakdowns or faults that have already happened would not be covered by any new or updated policy.
