We have a 2023
We have a 2023, 2500 diesel truck with 1500 miles on it- a work truck not used often. Yesterday while away from home we had a sudden shuddering of the brake pedal and truck.the dealership in Gainesville ga (Hardiman’s) states 2 to 2 1/2 wait time for working on the truck with no rental car until work begun. No offer of another work truck. They really didn’t care. So the warranty with rental truck is worthless. I’ve had the same situation with a Ford. I was taken right in and given a rental until the work was done. After paying 92,000 for a truck- or ANY amount- I expect service. Ford performed. GMC didn’t. We will never buy a gmc again.
GMC Sierra Buyer Beware!
Potential buyer beware! I purchased a new GMC Sierra 15OO in 2024 and was thrilled with the vehicle initially. Unfortunately, the excitement turned to disbelief quickly. In just over a year of ownership the truck needed two major repairs with only 26,000 miles on the truck. One repair being a failed fuel pump and the other being the valve body for the transmission. Although the repairs were done under warranty, this situation is unacceptable with a new vehicle. To make matters worse, GM is aware of the valve body issue in the 10 speed transmission (check the internet for the failures across the country) and has done noting to repair, reengineer or modify the failing part. GM is simply replacing it with the exact same part with no guarantee it will not fail in another 20,000 miles. Adding to the upset, the dealership had my truck for a month waiting on the backordered part and there were 7 other Sierra’s in front of mine waiting on the valve body. Sadly, I traded my truck in once repaired for another make simply to avoid any future headaches with the Sierra. So if you are shopping for a truck, reconsider before buying a new Sierra and do some deep research on the issues.
$80,000 garbage
$80,000 for a truck and the junk batteries are bad less than 1yr in. GM Won’t replace due to mileage as if mileage makes a battery go bad. $562 for batteries less than 1yr old. You can’t even buy a battery with less than a 3 yr warranty most are 7 or 8 yrs warranty and when you do they don’t go off of mileage for the warranty. Warranty on a battery never goes off of mileage and always goes by months or years of warranty. Was told if I put 36,000 miles in two months nothing is covered. Meaning they wouldn’t even replace my batteries if they were only 2 months old because of mileage. Clearly by all these reviews I just read GM does not care about their customers. Apparently you can’t even have confidence in a GM battery to make it a year. What a joke. I will never put a Gm vehicle in my fleet again. I paid cash for my truck. You just lost a cash customer. Keep your garbage from here on out
Horrible customer service experience
I purchased a brand-new 2025 GMC Sierra at the beginning of September with zero miles on it. About two weeks after purchasing the truck, I noticed the tires had dry rot on the sides. I contacted the dealership immediately, and they dismissed the issue, saying there was “nothing there” and tried to wipe it off with a wet towel.
After getting nowhere, I contacted GMC directly to report the problem and ask for support, but they were unresponsive. I eventually contacted a Firestone dealership, and they confirmed the tires were in fact dry rotted and replaced them. However, I had to pay the installation fee of about $190 out of my own pocket.
I reached back out to GMC requesting reimbursement since the tires should never have been in this condition on a brand-new vehicle. GMC refused, stating the dealership told them it was “normal wear and tear” despite the vehicle only having zero miles at purchase and under 2,000 miles when the issue was reported. There's no way a new vehicle with only a few miles, and perfect tread should have dry rotted tires.
I am extremely disappointed with both GMC and the dealership in Bunkie, Louisiana. I expected better customer service and accountability, and this has left a very bad impression after purchasing a brand-new vehicle.
1 star was generous for both GMC & the Chevy dealership in Bunkie Louisiana.
My Resolution Specialist Echo was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. This was a horrible experience with the GMC, the dealership, and the Resolution Specialist.
GMC Sierra is the worst truck in the…
GMC Sierra is the worst truck in the world. Customer service is the worst I have ever witnessed. Some lady named Tykieia claims she is in charge when you ask to speak to someone else. So according to her there is no one else to talk to about my 3 month issue. Her answer is to put in the same failing part that went bad. This is not a fix at all. It is at best a band-aid DO NOT BUY GMC/GM/CADILLAC/BUICK OR ANYTHING THEY OWN. THEY HAVE PROVED THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY AT ALL. WORST VEHICLES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE SAFELY BUY ANYTHING BUT A GM PRODUCT! NEVER WILL I OR ANY OF MY FAMILY PURCHASE A GM PRODUCT.
My 2023 GMC truck has been sitting in…
My 2023 GMC truck has been sitting in the shop for almost two months. First they said it was the turbo, then the radiator, then the air‑conditioning system, and now they claim the turbo shredded metal and sent it into the engine, so the entire engine must be replaced. Before this, the truck had already lost power; they changed the turbo, and just 10,000 miles later it broke down again, leaving my family and me stranded on the highway. It took them more than two weeks to give me a clear diagnosis. I pay over $1,000 per month for this truck and yet they’ve left me with a Malibu loaner I cannot work with. I’ve spent a lot of money on rental cars and lost income.
It gets worse: two months after buying it, on a trip from Florida to Virginia in 2023, the brakes failed completely; the shop never figured out why and didn’t fix it. While the truck was at the dealership, they even hit it and dented the fender. Most frustrating of all, GMC has not reached out to me—I always have to call and wait on hold to get updates, and no one has offered any solution or replacement vehicle. After years of buying GMC products, my trust is gone.
This is my personal experience—I’m not exaggerating. There are also public reports: in May 2025, General Motors recalled nearly 600,000 trucks and SUVs from model years 2021‑2024 because manufacturing defects in connecting rods or crankshafts can cause engines to fail

. Consumer protection lawyers note that 2020‑2024 3.0 Duramax diesel engines have suffered turbocharger failures, fuel‑pump defects and emissions issues

Serious Safety Concerns Ignored — Deeply Disappointed in GMC’s Response
I never imagined I’d have to write a review like this, but after weeks of frustration and fear for my family’s safety, I feel it’s important to share my experience.
My 2023 GMC Acadia, only two years into its lease, has now been in service four times in one month for the same dangerous issue — a sudden and complete loss of power while driving, even at highway speeds. Each time, the vehicle abruptly decelerates without warning. Thankfully, there hasn’t been an accident yet, but I’ve had my 4-year-old son in the car when it’s happened, and the thought of what could occur if this happens again is terrifying.
The dealership has replaced the pedals, wiring, and management system — yet corporate instructed them to replace the pedals again, as if repeating the same failed fix would somehow change the outcome. Meanwhile, communication between the dealership and corporate has been inconsistent and painfully slow. I’ve spent over a week trying to get clear answers, only to be met with silence and excuses.
To make matters worse, I was told the dealership could no longer provide a loaner car, meaning my family and I are expected to drive an unsafe vehicle that has already failed multiple times. That is unacceptable.
This experience has completely shattered my confidence in GMC’s commitment to customer safety. A company of this size should never allow a known safety issue like this to drag on without resolution or urgency. I’m still waiting for accountability and a real solution — ideally, for GMC to stand behind its product and do the right thing.
Until then, I urge anyone considering a GMC vehicle to think carefully about what kind of support they’ll actually receive if something goes wrong.
I would leave zero stars if possible
I would leave zero stars if possible. I wish people would not purchase GM vehicles, they don’t care about their customers or their safety they did not want to help me at all just kept telling me the vehicle was operating as intended. I guess I didn’t get the stop option in my 2024 Terrain, and it was intended to drive me into a bush. I will never buy GM again.
Bought a 2017 Sierra Denali with 45,000…
Bought a 2017 Sierra Denali with 45,000 miles, at 94,000 the lifters went out. This was the first GMC vehicle I had issues with, there's no reason a $50,000 dollar vehicle should have any mechanical problems. The issues with the 6.2L recalls should have included earlier models.
Roadside non assistance
I want to share my experience with roadside assistance through GM, 2023 Silverado zr2, 6.2L engine leaves my son stranded on hwy, told multiple times tow on the way, Just to be told 3 hours later no one is available. It did get towed 6h after the initial call forcing us to go pick them up an hour away, ruining all our evenings. On top of that because the dealer i purchased it at was a bit further then the closest dealer about 35km more they wanted to charge that at about $135. Money not the issue for me but the complete lack of customer service and car to waste all our time sure is. On top of this we put in a claim with customer service about 2 weeks ago with a logged customer reference number (CI.....) and told someone will call us back in a couple days. I guess a couple in GM world is different then mine, but completely rediculous how much the customer service is lacking. Even the supervisor after 3h could not solve anything. Time for GM to credit all customers for this service and just discount vehicles vs offering a service that clearly does not help you when you need it.
Bought a brand new 2024 3500 Denali
Bought a brand new 2024 3500 Denali, the truck has been breaking down every 3 months since. The most recent breakdowns were in Texas and Colorado. Truck broke down in the Dallas area, transmission completely failed, could not get to Vegas with my haul. Went to 5 dealerships in the area, some were closed on Saturday, some were open with one guy behind the service desk doing nothing. I was told that no technicians were on site and that they will re open only Tuesday. No dealership was able to provide me a courtesy vehicle as well. I still haven got any refund and compensation for that major break down (travel expenses, heavy truck rentals…) I picked up the truck in Texas, the very next day the transmission was acting out again but I was able to make it to Las Vegas. Stopped by my dealership regarding the issue, was told that the truck needed to be driven for a month so the transmission could synchronized with some modules and sensors. After a month I went to Colorado, transmission failed again and the top of it, there is a also a big leak underneath the engine, the master cylinder leaks as well…the truck is just falling apart. Took the truck to the nearest dealership in Denver, was told they will look at it in 7 days….then a few days later got a phone call from them to tell me that they won’t look at the truck for weekS… unbelievable!
I called the GMC customer service and got the truck towed to another dealership that was supposed to look at the truck on Monday…. then same BS, got a phone call about three weeks ago to letting me know that they will only look at the truck on the 8th….
Haven’t heard from the dealer since so I called today to check in on the repairs…. The Dealership can’t find my truck !!! They never had it ! The truck is nowhere to be found, called multiple dealerships, GMC towing assistance, GMC customer service… nobody has answers and they just don’t care.
I am still trying to get compensation for the breakdown in Texas, trying to get compensation for the breakdown in Colorado, trying to get my truck repurchased and now trying to locate my truck… it’s just been a nightmare.
My case manager Allie is incompetent, she sounds like she is 12 and just apologized on the phone in repeat mode, I think she is AI !
GMC is supposed to be the top of the top…. Well it’s not !
It’s time to lawyer up
Worst vehicle experience.
Owning a GM vehicle has been the worst vehicle experience of my life. I purchased a brand new 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in July of 2023 because GMC was supposed to be best of the best. Within 7 months of owning the vehicle, all of the cameras stopped working. I got them repaired under warranty only to have them fail again and again. I found out I could remove the camera fuse and reinsert it to get them working. I did that repeatedly until that didn't work anymore. I took it into GMC to be fixed for a second time, they fixed them and charged me for that work, only to have the cameras fail again. I had a GMC service team inspect the cameras for a third time while performing a total engine replacement (more to come on that).
Their findings AFTER completing a total engine replacement were that the cameras work fine, and they didn't have any explanation as to why they were magically working again. The cameras worked for two weeks before going out again. Now GMC wants me to pay to get the entire camera module replaced. This was a lemon part, and it is the responsibility of GMC to replace it.
On top of camera struggles, GMC decided to create one horrible feature and exclude one necessary feature on the 2023 Sierra models. The horrible feature was a new wheel lock that is unique to each vehicle and has no master key in all of GMC. So, when a GMC service team decided to keep my wheel lock key during a tire rotation service, I was left stranded with a flat tire that could not be removed. GMC's only solution was to break the wheel off the truck and have me pay for a brand new one. But don't worry, after paying $1,500 for a new wheel and being out of commission while traveling for 3 days, the GMC service team who kept my wheel lock keys mailed them back to me. I never should have had to pay out of pocket for an issue created by a GMC service team's negligence.
The feature GMC decided not to include on this truck (because it is supposed to be the best of the best and never fail) was the ability to shift into neutral when the engine won't start. Well, my 18 month old, $72,000 GMC Sierra had its engine turn off while I was driving and needed to be towed. The AAA team that GMC employs for towing refused to tow my vehicle because this feature did not exist and they were unwilling to drag the vehicle for fear of liability for powertrain damage. I was stranded on a dangerous stretch of highway for 4 hours waiting for tow trucks to appear and refuse to tow. Eventually, highway patrol had to force someone to tow my vehicle.
On top of all of that, is the engine replacement. While towing a travel trailer (the specific task these vehicles are advertised for), my engine turned off. No warning, no sputtering, no weird noises. Just turned off, and I had to use momentum to pull to the side of the road. I had to wait a full 4 days including a weekend to have a GMC shop tell me the ignition fuse needed replacing. They charged me $900 for that and sent me on my way STATING they did not know why that part would cause the engine to turn off. Less than 50 minutes after leaving the GMC service shop, my engine turned off while I was driving. This time in a much more dangerous area where I was not able to pull off the road. (The towing story has already been told.) On this second evaluation, it took them one day to tell me it would be a total engine replacement, and they would have to fly a new engine from Michigan to Seattle. Their system said it would take 4 days for the new engine to arrive, so they told me to expect it to take 2 weeks. Nine weeks later, the work would be done. Four weeks in, I asked to start the reimbursement process as the rental car costs were becoming too burdensome. They assigned me to a backordered parts team who was going to set me up on monthly reimbursements. 14 weeks later, I have not received a dime of the nearly $6,000 that I am owed in reimbursement.

Mark Wahlberg GMC experience
Purchased an SUV through a broker out of state. At first things were going smoothly and the saleswoman was very with communicating and sending pictures or videos. Issues started when scheduling to deliver the SUV started, the trucker was very rude and mishandled the delivery date as I was away on vacation forcing my neighbors to go out of their way and assist, the dealership and broker kept blaming each other promising I would be reimbursed or given monetary benefits for my inconvenience - this was in December and I am still waiting on word of the promised wire.
After I received the vehicle I asked the dealership twice and the broker regarding my license plate being told it was coming. The temporary plate expired and I was pulled over by the police for not having a plate. I was then sent a form to sign for out of state plate - I asked why this wasn't completed or requested earlier in the process to no response, 2 weeks or so after filling out the paperwork I still didn't receive the plate and was told it would be quicker if I just get it myself. Once again I was promised monetary compensation for going to DMV - which took 4 hours during work week - and paying for the plate myself. It has been over a month or 2 since and still no word on the 2nd wire that was promised. I am sure the plate fee was in my initial purchase so I likely had to pay twice. Car is great, the communication has been terrible since I made my initial deposit.
Purchased a new 2024 Canyon and 2025 Acadia, both flawless
Had purchased a new 2024 Canyon, and it was simply amazing. Never had any problems with it in 1 year of ownership and about 9K miles on it. Wonderful truck. I wanted to go back to an SUV, so I traded it in on a 2025 Acadia AT4. So far, with 1700 miles and a few weeks in, it's also flawless. I haven't anything to complain about. Everything works, everything is nice and I feel like it's simply the perfect vehicle for me needing legroom and space so as not to feel claustrophobic. It has plenty of power, it gets 20mpg around town in AWD mode and 22mpg on the highway in AWD mode. Simply nothing to complain about. Now, I have heard and seen reviews about both of these new vehicles and have concerns about writing a review without any issues to report, as I hope it's not a jinx and I end up having issues. But I waited a year and the Canyon was flawless. Never owned a new car without any issues before. Hoping the Acadia turns out to be the same way. I have had good luck with the GMC and Buick brands in the past, two Encores, one Terrian, one Envision, etc. All of those were cars that just ran without issue as well. I'm hopeful that things continue on as they have, and that things continue to work well. I know that all cars have had issues, a big name hybrid SUV I bought new in 2020 had a need for a new steering rack under warranty in the first 3 months, and a new fuel tank in the first 6 months. So as to say no matter what it is these days, there are cars that need work and as for the solutions, I'll wait to pass judgement on GMC until I see how they perform if something bad happens. The simple service stuff like oil changes and inspections have been fine.
Criminal at best
General Motors truly doesn't stand by their products or customers, and likes to define their own terms after the fact to justify not having to reimburse customers.... but they don't inform you about it until after the time frame (which is subject to change on their choosing) WHAT A BUNCH OF GARBAGE 100K on a truck but go f yourself if it breaks down... they keep it for over a month while youre stranded on a trip and string you along spoon feeding you scripted bs and end up forcing you to spend thousands out of your own pocket.
My engine blew up after 123,000km
My engine blew up after 123,000 km and regular maintenance. They admitted to knowing their engines blow up and will do absolutely nothing to rectify the situation because of policies designed to screw over the consumer. DO NOT buy a GMC unless you want your engine to blow up prematurely. You should be recalling your product instead of robbing your customers.
