Had my fx6 less than 3 months when it started to leak from the impeller housing called customer services uk to be told to return it to where I bought it from. What? The warranty is with u Fluval not the shop I got it from. Customer services were rubbish. I won’t be buying fluval again. It’s gona take weeks to resolve.
Customer service blows chunks
Seemingly good products but customer service blows chunks. Ask a question about my new fx6 filter having trouble with leaks after motor cleaning. Had to get another filter while waiting for a reply. Wait but no response. Ended up buying every part including motor to fix the leak. I see lots of other customer service complaints. Shame. Makes me worry because I have lots of fluval stuff I just bought in the last 8 months. Need to find a different product from a company that cares not just sells. *Tip* Fluval. Use some money and hire people to answer questions on a timely basis.

Do NOT buy this Fluval 407 Canister Filter or anything from United Emporium USA. I ordered this Fluval 407 Performance Canister on 1 December 2025. It took my friend and I two hours to set everything up on Saturday morning the 6th of December. It ran for 12 hours. When I check it Sunday morning I noticed the canister was leaking due to a crack in the side of the canister. It had flooded the bottom of my fish tank cabinet and my wood floor. I immediately disconnected it, emptied the water out, and put it in the box to send it back. I wrote in the comments section of why I was returning it that it was defective and leaked. I dropped it off 7 December. When I did not receive a refund for the Cannister I called Amazon to check on it. They wrote a note to the seller. This is the abysmal and obviously nasty and lying response I received from the seller.
"The item we sent was factory sealed, brand new, and unused. • The item we received back is clearly used, with visible water residue, cracked housing, and wet internal components, indicating prior installation and use. Because the returned product is not in original condition, and differs from what was shipped, a refund has not been issued. We respectfully request Amazon’s review and guidance on how to proceed in line with the Used Item Return Policy"
Obviously it was "used" otherwise I wouldn't have known it had a crack in it and was defective!!!! But it was "used" for 12 hours. The seller is lying and can certainly tell that the canister was NOT used for any length of time and was faulty. They even said there was crack in the canister. They refused to accept responsibility for their broken canister. I am working with Amazon Customer Service to resolve this issue. Be warned about buying this canister or anything else from United Emporium USA! They are NOT and honest company.
Warranty team not responding
I bought a filter for my 30gallon, 2 weeks later the motor stopped working. I contacted the warranty and they said sure we'll send you a new part, what's your address. I've emailed them 4 times since. No reply. I have a 5 year warranty. It is the only reason I bought the stupidly expensive one TO NOT DEAL WITH THIS. im extremely unhappy! Its been at least 2 weeks.

It's not a company I can put any trust in after being rudely awakened to my turtle flipping out trying to get my attention and I find his fx2 canister filter is no longer pumping. It's 1 year old and well cared for! I removed and cleaned the assembly and I found the motor and Impeller in really bad shape not turning well.
I had to order a new motor for 90 bucks plus an impeller assembly.
I paid $333.00 for this unit and I expected more for the money on order#1008825974. No refunds after I asked yet, we shall see.

Misleading warranty – 2 extra years promised but not valid after purchase
I bought my Fluval product on Amazon.de in good faith.
Inside the box there was a paper clearly offering +2 years free extended warranty if I register within 30 days. It does NOT say anything about “authorized dealers” or restrictions.
I tried to register, but Fluval rejected it because Amazon is not considered an “authorized dealer”. This information is not mentioned on the card included in the box – so the offer feels misleading.
I wasted time preparing documents to register properly, only to be denied afterwards.
If Fluval promotes “FREE +2 years warranty”, the conditions should be clearly stated before purchase, not after registration. Very disappointing.

I started buying Fluval because other companies quality have dropped drastically on aquarium products, the 2 Canister filters I purchased are fine so far but a 300 Watt heater had a Defective thermostat out of the box. Now I've been in this hobby since the 90s I've owned all brands most I won't buy from lately because they either sold out to another company and or quality has been almost 0! I gave Fluval a chance I had a reasonable deadline to meet setting up a Larger tank but after filling out Fluvals online warranty form that got back to me later asking for a lot more like additional photos of the settings, the tag, the box, the thermometer. If time was not a issue I could have done all this extra . But I had to order another brand online to get this tanks temperature where I needed to be fast, after the email they sent requesting all this extra information I decided to call them they tell me their warranty doesn't start until after the return policy of the seller is over?? I've never heard of any company doing this! But because I live over 100 miles from the store actually the only aquarium store near me they would make a exception all I had to do was provide the extra information and then they would send me a email asking for a photo of the cord cut off it and they would send me another that I wouldn't trust. Again this would be fine if I could trust the product. I will just have the trash the heater it's not worth over $100 in fuel to drive to get a refund from the major per store I purchased it from. This is just a warning about this Brand and their policies. Especially if you live far from a pet store online orders to keep living things alive will be a issue they don't take that into consideration your expensive pets could perish waiting on them.

I have had several build quality issues
1) the metal mounting rails that hold the lids starting slowing sliding down the inside of the tank after a few weeks, until the lid fell into the water along with the front rail, it would appear the doubled sided sticky tape simply is not suitable.
2) the Fluval T300 heater which came with the tank lasted around a month and then the bottom tip, cracked and fell off

Bad quality and customer service
I purchased a pump for my aquarium. 6 weeks later it stopped working. We were leaving on vacation so I purchased another pump(from a different company). I then write to Fluval requesting a refund instead of a replacement. They were really rude and told me if I don't want a replacement I get nothing. I also had another pump before this last one I purchased that only lasted 2 years. Their quality and customer service are both horrible.

I'm in Australia and I still have a faulty FX6 and Hagen/Fluval customer service bloke don't believe me. I have bought so many spare parts myself for this filter it would have been easier to buy a new filter. The customer support is dreadful and they don't reply too quick and are happy to tell you what they think is wrong. I asked them to honour their warranty many times with no comment so in the end I gave up

Absolutely dreadful. Getting the blue tooth to work was hit and miss. When you do get them set up sometimes it told me the light needed turning on when they were on!
Worst of all, if the electric went off the lights lost all their settings!
Really poor to be selling these. They have 7 versions for sale on Amazon and it isn't showing one review - they must have reviews switched off some how or everyone knows how bad they are and won't buy them

Fluval aquatics support UK terrible service. Expensive FX6 which they can't offer a better support even after providing all the needed information and purchase invoice showing that it's still under warranty. Insisting to go to the seller with same reputation as them. Cheaper canister filter brands does not easily break as the Fluval even their tank lights the same issue. What a rubbish brand with a rubbish support.

What a heap of garbage!! fX6 lasted 9 months. Contacted customer service, they said some highly intelligent stuff like make sure it’s plugged in. Really? That’s service? The only thing lower quality than fluval is their customer support!!
Forget warranty claims
Useless customer service. Asked about a replacement hose under warranty with them on Messenger. They gave me a link to the US website which I thought was a bit odd (I'm in the UK) and asked me to fill out a warranty claim.
I contacted the Customer Service Supervisor in the UK and all he did was keep asking question after question, he obviously didn't believe I had a faulty item. He never even offered to replace it.
Ten days later I was getting nowhere so have just gone out and bought one.
I will never buy fluval again.
Useless.
Update - they have now blocked me sending messages with Messenger!!!
Fluval is a terrible product
Bought a Fluval couple of months ago and hate it. The suction for the filter is useless hence the water is absolutely filthy and the filter pristine. I have to remove most of the water every week as a result which stresses the fish. It was an upgrade but my old tank (which was far cheaper) was a thousand times better and kept the water clean. Absolutely useless product.
