A friend got a quotation online. paid in full and nearly a week later they decide for NO reason they wont cover. They have the money all this time and he now he cant pay a genuine insurance broker until they return it. To keep within the guidelines of Trustpilot I cannot express my full thoughts but unprofessional along with other similar words are not good enough to describe their pathetic service. not nice phone call and rude online chat trying to sort the issue.

I was looking for a classic insurance policy for my second car, a 24-year-old Audi TT, and came across First Ireland Insurance Company online. I called them, provided all the necessary details, and everything seemed perfect—€270 for a year. I paid €70 upfront with the rest to be paid in installments.

A week later, they contacted me asking for my No Claim Bonus (NCB), which I am using for my daily car insured with Revolut. However, Revolut informed me that such a letter is only issued at the end of the policy term. I sent proof of my insurance with Revolut to First Ireland, including screenshots of my conversations with Revolut’s customer service, but they were not interested.

They never sent me the insurance disk, and after many attempts to resolve the issue, I gave up after three weeks. At that point, they demanded a cancellation fee for a policy I had never seen. I lost a lot of time and money that I will not get back, but most importantly, I lost faith in people.
It's a miracle to get through to them by phone, but when it comes to sending letters and threatening me that if I don't pay the cancellation fee of €19.85, I won't get a loan in Ireland, they are meticulous
Such pseudo-companies should be shut down for fraud.

Not bad but you should try online chat its much better insurance companys are busy these days...

Very unprofessional, impossible to speak with anyone or get a quote and don't respond to emails.

My insurance needs to be renewed in a few weeks. Needed to transfer my insurance from my daughters car for a few days. Over three days I could not get through to them. No way going back to them.

Will not be renewing my insurance next year. 2 months ago my son passed his driving test, emailed to see could my policy be updated & was told it would cost me €35 for me to upload a picture of his license.. rang again today as I am changing my car.. going from a 2ltr diesel to a 1.5 petrol & it’s costing me €124 to do this?!! Any other insurance company I was every with never charged me that kind of money to make that change, if anything I would have received money back. Never again…

Trying to renew my car insurance they sent me our a quotation 6 week ago I contacted first IRELAND last week Wednesday 16/07/2024 was kept waiting more than 50 minutes, then to be told the quotation they gave me from Footprint that they were not happy with as they were slow to pay out claim I said why hadn't your company First IRELAND got on to me earlier and the girl I was speaking to said they only knew this information 4/5 weeks ago so why did you not issue me with a new quotation outlining your concerns. Or do you not want to put anything in writing form. She said they had to protect everyone GDPR rights, she had no problem saying it over the phone to me about how unhappy they were with Footprint. She gave me a new quotation from another company which was 75% more than the first quotation from Footprint. It getting very hard to trust anyone anymore.

No good - First Ireland.ie take the mic out of existing customers. I've been trying to contact them for two days now. They only answer new enquiries .

Worst company ever! They are answering the calls only for new customers. Was trying for a week to get through to close the contract so that in the end they tell us that there is also an early exit fee of 60 euros which we were never told about when we wanted to renew. The guy said it's fine, you can start the policy now and pay the 3 months and then you'll get a refund of what's left. The certificate was probably active for about 4 weeks before selling the car. If we knew this, never would have gone ahead. Big Liers just to sign you up and get your money!

I sent a quote through their website and got a call in the next morning. Very efficient, helped me out with first car insurance.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how terrible this company is. Tried for days to get through to somebody to no avail. Used up all my phone credit. Even went into their office and nobody was there! Absolute disgrace.

Lovely stuff but it would be nice if I could get through without waiting nearly 2 hours on the line I have rang several times it seems to be impossible for anybody to answer the phone I was waiting 45 minutes and somebody answered and hung it up I had to call back and wait another 45 minutes to get through not very impressed

I dealt with a lovely guy today called Eoin while renewing my insurance. He was so friendly and chatty and very efficient. I have also dealt with the same man a couple of times while renewing and has always been so lovely. I look forward to dealing with him again.
Also I had my insurance renewed in less than 5 mins which was great 😊

Rebecca the team leader assisted me very well with live chat on the website only took five minutes to receive the answers to my questions. Very helpful very attentive.

Not possible to contact - this service is an abomination. The minimum review score on this site is 1 out of 5 (I would, as a reflection of how I feel, more accurately give ZERO).
I had my car in for a routine service and was provided with a replacement car for the day. It was Friday evening at 4pm and I could not make contact with First Ireland to confirm that the insurance had been transferred back to my own car. Their ‘Livechat’ is usually more efficient than calling on the phone for this kind of thing, but there was a prompt saying that no operators were active/ available. I waited on the phone for fully 45min before trying other phone numbers. Eventually, the call was cut off abruptly at c.5:05pm. I tried reconnecting, but the voice message told me that FI’s hours of business had closed. Simply, not good enough and reflects extremely poorly on the way this company manages its operations - unprofessional, inadequate and lacking in expected degree of competence. Abysmally poor service delivery.

Been calling them for over a week, each call lasting more than an hour. I am tryung to GIVE them money. Tried the call back option twice - nothing. Tried their 'chat' still no call back. Emailed them and no response. I have been dealing with them for 20 years. My insurance is due on Saturday but I will take my business elsewhere. Atrocious service

Awful company to try and get through to. Sometimes it takes me days to try and get hold of someone. You'll be on hold for up to an hour or more. This is not ideal when you need to transfer insurance, if you can't get through to them for days then you ain't driving anywhere. My advice is to completely avoid them, even if they are offering cheaper insurance, it's just not worth it.

ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A COMPANY. Been trying to get in contact for 4days ringing, emailing, ringing emailing. For a hold line that continuously repeats “Our agents would be happy to help you” doesn’t seem to have many happy helping agents 🤣 Wasted money on a deposit because they’re clueless agents can’t seem to explain things to customer, now can’t even get in contact with anyone. Useless company and customer service with no care for any customers, find a different broker.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would !!!!! absolutely unbelievable ! 3 days on hold for hours, and i mean HOURS! Started calling to insure my van on Wed, on hold for an hour, then someone answered, took all my information and put me on hold, at exactly 5pm the phone was hanged up !!!!! then started again on Thursday , on hold for hours, transferred twice to a person that couldnt help, said an agent would call back, NOTHING! THEN today started calling from 9am, at 10.15 someone answered said we can see you have been holding for an hour and an agent will call back, at 2.30pm no one called of course, called back, on hold for 2 hours and then the phone was hanged up! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY . calling another one right now
