It was a challenging but also a great experience. Gradually improving my technical skills by using codes and AI agents to help me in n8n. Although there were some challenging moments where I had to result to Claude AI, I had to adapt to such errors and debug some of them as well without AI by inspecting certain elements in the codes and then finally producing the desired output. This experience was very educational and instructive and I would like to use what I learnt from this experience furthermore in life

As someone transitioning from a non-tech background into data analytics, I completed three eight-week externships with Extern across healthcare analytics, consumer brand research, and sports ROI analysis.
Each project pushed me to deliver real outputs — predictive models, data visualisations, and structured presentations — not busywork. My Python skills went from basic to genuinely functional through hands-on application rather than passive learning.
What stood out was how Extern bridges the experience gap that blocks most career changers. You're not simulating work — you're doing it. The integration of AI tools into research and analysis workflows also prepared me for how modern data teams actually operate.
If anything, onboarding documentation could be clearer for complete beginners. But the learning curve is part of the value.
Highly recommended for anyone serious about breaking into data without a traditional degree pathway.

It is a good experience to work on my externship at Extern. The program specialist and manager provided a lot of resource to help me understand the materials and realize the current job market. Provide workshop and invite the tech professional to share their job experience and how to find their current roles.

Perfect way to gain experience easily in the area you want to break into as a student. The projects and modules are well organised and you can learn a lot throughout the process. I highly recommend.

One thing that really stood out to me during the externship was its clear and intentional focus on Data Visualization. That clarity of purpose exposed me to what it truly takes to visualize data in today’s business world. The program delivered on its mandate, and it has inspired me to keep telling stories with data—whether through Canva designs or Flourish visualizations.

I’ve done data analysis in previous academic programs, but this experience was different. There’s nothing quite like knowing exactly where to go and what to use when you need to create compelling visual stories, and that guidance was generously provided throughout the program.

I’m now motivated to add even stronger design skills to my portfolio, supported by real projects that grew out of this externship. I’m genuinely proud of my final deliverable, and it has sparked a desire to explore more datasets and tell more stories that can help solve real-world business problems.

Having finished my externship experience in Tiktok social media marketing and brand strategy, it has deepened my understanding in brand positioning based on brand voice, visual and style of reaching the targeted audience/customers on social media platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram, by use of metrics to determine views, shares, engagement and impressions to enable effective social media marketing and content creation that align with intention not exaggeration.
Moreso, Canva data visualization and AI Design externship has truly contributed in my field of climate literacy. I can now have access to Canvas AI design and produce educative visuals that brings strategic climate action storytelling that support localized biodiversity initiatives.
