My Takeaways from the Regenerative Public Space Webinar

Just attended the RCSA webinar on "Regenerative Public Space" and it really shifted how I think about designing/planning public spaces. Instead of just "sustainability" (aka minimizing damage), the whole framing was about actively regenerating relationships between people, place, and nature, kinda leveling up from "do less harm" to "actually give back."

Prof du Plessis broke it down into starting from nature, starting from place, co-creating with the community, and contributing more than you take. What hit home for me was the 3-phase process — Reconnect, Revitalise, Reinvigorate since it treats regeneration as an ongoing relationship, not some project you finish and walk away from. Feels very relevant to what we deal with in LGU planning here.

Dr Hugo followed up with real case studies (Muckleneuk Commons, MYDO, Moja Gabedi) and honestly these hit different - real communities dealing with neglect, safety issues, and just... making it work through sheer grassroots effort. Big takeaway: "local problems need local solutions." So true for DRRM work too, top-down stuff just doesn't land the same way community-driven ones do.

Excellent, Pleasant Experience

Very easy to use, very clear and easy to understand and interact with, had only pertinent and appropriate information, fast website, no waiting for a response, convenient as hell. Exactly as a ticket booking experience should be. Wish all internet experiences were like this! Well Done to the creators/administrators, two thumbs up :-)
