Had a very successful kickstarter (again) and is now ghosting backers. It is now a year since shipping was due and they stopped updating backers on the 4th June.

Some research another backer did shows ESPRO changed hands a couple times since their original successful project. And the original creators don't appear to be associated with the brand anymore?

You can even see on the Kickstarter account is a new account under the same brand - not the same account that ran the previous project (1 Project Created) how this representation is allowed by Kickstarter is WILD. This is a direct quote from the campaign "This is our 5th Kickstarter Campaign..." yet it really is not as this organization seems to be under totally new ownership - previous projects were run by a founder who has left the organization - Bruce Constantine.

Additionally it looks like shortly after they ran this kickstarter campaign they opened a Espro branded custom cafe in toronto so perhaps their efforts have been focused elsewhere?

We are a year behind expected delivery date and the creator of this project isn't even logging into kickstarter on a monthly basis to even pretend they are making progress - check the account by clicking Espro Coffee under "Created by" at the top of this page as of writing this the last login was July 8th.

Would be nice if we could get some pressure from kickstarter on this project - they got their cut of the money so they have some obligation to at least try and hold the creator accountable in some way. Where is the project actually at, where has the money been spent specifically on the development of this product.

Yet another person whose money was taken as part of their Kickstarter with no product delivered. They’re now selling a product similar to the one I backed on their site but have given nothing to the backers. It’s been months with no updates.

Stay away from this company, they will take your money and then not communicate with you or deliver on the promised item

This company took my Kickstarter backer money and did not provide the product promised to me, or any others from what I can tell. DO NOT do business with them. I will be reporting them to the authorities.

I am deeply disappointed with the management of the recent ESPRO 2 Kickstarter campaign. The project was originally scheduled to ship around September 2025. We are now nearly a year past that target, yet the product has still not shipped. To make matters worse, communication has entirely stalled, and backers have been left without a meaningful status update for months.Compounding this failure is a highly misleading campaign history. The creators heavily marketed this as their "5th campaign" to build trust and leverage a legacy of successful delivery. However, the current ownership group running this campaign is entirely different from the previous team that built Espro’s initial reputation. Advertising the achievements of a completely different corporate entity as your own to solicit backer funds while failing to provide basic operational transparency is completely deceptive.If you are considering backing any future crowdfunding projects or purchasing from this company, be warned that the current management does not honor their timelines, ignores communication, and relies on the historical credibility of past owners rather than their own actual performance.

Their Espro 7 French press was the most highly rated French press on Wirecutter / NY Times, and consumer reviews were generally favorable. However, after physically inspecting the product, I am dissatisfied with the extent of the plastic content which exceeds that readily disclosed on the company's description of the product. Supposedly the plastic is BPA and phalates free but so what. Also the general recommendation was to get the 18 oz size. It would be easy to swap out some of the plastic content with metal if the diameter were 4 inches, but the diameter is too small to enable me to find replacement parts for the interior which would be all metal. I was not also happy to see that their paper filters are made in China as well.

I bought 2 French press P3 but received it 1 month later after, because DHL delivered it to someone else.

I been mailing back a forwards with costumer service, for a month, it was a tooth extracting experience, but they finally decided to send them again.

My recommendation: get your package 📦 send to a pick up point with ID verification, save yourself the hassle.
