El Monte RV - Chicago Arvostelua 7

I was very happy with the service at Arts RV in Villa Park/Glenellyn, Il! They were helpful and considerate, got me in and out quickly on pickup and drop off. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer RV. I’ve been renting on Memorial Day weekend for 11 years and my second time at with El Monte. Both were my best experiences yet.

Great experience

Unser El Monte RV Class C Family Sleeper hatte Jahrgang 2026 und war in sehr gutem Zustand. Die technische Einweisung in Chicago verlief sehr speditiv und freundlich.

Zwei Dinge, die man wissen muss und uns so nicht klar waren:

1. "up to 7 people" stimmt schon - aber nur, wenn 3(!) davon Kinder sind! In den beiden Betten im Living Bereich kann KEINE erwachsene Person schlafen: die Betten sind viel zu kurz!

2. Ab einer Geschwindigkeit von ca. 55 mph wird es im Inneren derart laut, dass man sich nicht mehr unterhalten kann. Wir sind dann immer mit Gehörschutz gefahren!

Im Bereich Customer Service kann sich El Monte Chicago noch deutlich verbessern: wir hatten vorab drei Campingstühle bestellt und bezahlt. Als wir ankamen, hiess es, es hätte nur noch einen Campingstuhl zur Verfügung. Der zu viel bezahlte Betrag für zwei Stühle wurde zwar erstattet, doch erwarte ich bei einer Bestellung, die Monate im Voraus getätigt wurde, dass sich die Herren und Damen von El Monte etwas für ihre Kunden engagieren: man hätte problemlos zwei Billig-Campingstühle von Walmart besorgen können! Das war miserabler Kundenservice, liebe Nancy!

Preis-Leistung stimmte für uns. Wir würden wieder bei El Monte mieten.

The car was perfect, all things was working and the recepionist is amazing. I had a wonderful experience.

The Chicago depot were horrible humans. Rude and condescending. The building was full of annoyed people all living in the twilight zone.
We had to transport my mil because she was too ill to fly. The AC didn’t work and we had to drive through the desert in July. Not a single word of empathy. Just gross people. Sorry El Monte but your kindness doesn’t make up for your business partner/ contractor.

Disappointing Experience - Multiple Issues from Start to Finish

We rented an RV from El Monte RV in Chicago and unfortunately encountered numerous problems throughout our experience.

Delayed Pickup
We arranged pickup for 1:00 PM after our flight, but the RV wasn't ready when we arrived. We waited 1-2 hours while they prepared the vehicle and processed our contract.

Payment Issues
Despite booking and paying online with my Chase credit card, the facility refused to accept it at pickup because the card numbers aren't printed on the card itself (standard for Chase cards). Even though I had all the information on my phone app, they wouldn't accept this. I was forced to use my debit card instead, which meant losing the protection benefits of paying by credit card.

RV Condition Issues

Waste tanks were NOT empty - We discovered this at our first site, which had no dump facilities. We had to drive off-site to a local KOA and pay $140 to empty tanks that should have been empty when we collected the vehicle.

Water tanks were NOT full - I would expect this to be standard when picking up any RV.

Poor condition for age - Despite their claim that RVs are less than 2 years old, ours had numerous bumps, scratches, broken items, and significant wear and tear.

Missing items - We ordered camping chairs, but they emailed us after we'd left to say they forgot to include them.

Return Process
Returning the RV was equally time-consuming. Processing took a long time, and they couldn't even process the deposit refund to my card directly - they had to call someone else, and we had to wait before we could sign off and leave.

Overall
Given the price we paid, this level of service is unacceptable. From delayed pickup and payment complications to an improperly prepared RV and time-consuming return process, nearly every aspect of our rental was problematic. I expected much better from a company of this size.
