Genuinely my favourite game, played since 2017. So much content and constant updates they deserve praise. Keep it up.

PvE is probably one of the greatest games on the market. PvP is literally retarded. I can watch 1 guys survive against 20 other players. People that have been playing forever can toast you because of CP, not skill. It is VERY heavily gear/level based PVP, partial build. I just can't get over the fact that 1 person can stay alive against 20 for ever. In what concept of a game should that ever be a thing? Literally so stupid. Worst PVP experience I've ever had. I've given this game many many years to try PvP and it's never gotten better.

Ik heb jarenlang ESO gespeeld, met plezier, met investeringen, met vertrouwen.
Tot ik werd geconfronteerd met een ban die werkelijk nergens op sloeg.

Wat was mijn “misdrijf”?
Kritiek op het spel.
In een privégesprek.
Binnen mijn eigen guild.
Niet in zonechat, niet in algemene chat, niet naar iemand gericht — gewoon een harde opmerking over het spel zelf.

Ik zei letterlijk dat het een “retarded game” was — duidelijk gericht op het spel, niet op een persoon, niet op een groep, niet op eender welke beschermde categorie. Een frustrerende mening over een product, meer niet.

Mijn volledige uitleg, context en verduidelijking werden genegeerd.
Eén woord werd uit verband gerukt en behandeld alsof ik iemand had aangevallen. Support las de context niet, negeerde mijn uitleg en duwde een standaardtemplate terug alsof ik met een robot sprak.

En dan heb ik het nog niet over de staat van het spel na de grote ontslagronde:

Content is dun, leeg en eindeloos herhaald.

Updates veroorzaken meer problemen dan ze oplossen.

Events zijn copy-paste van vorige jaren.

Communicatie bestaat amper nog.

De kwaliteit en passie van vroeger zijn volledig verdwenen.

ESO was geweldig. Vandaag voelt het alsof je kijkt naar een spel dat op automatische piloot draait.

Het ergste?
Je kunt dus effectief een ban krijgen voor kritiek op het spel zelf, in een privéomgeving — en daarna weigert support zelfs om de context te lezen.

Ik ben gestopt, volledig, en ik raad niemand nog aan om hiermee te beginnen zolang dit de manier van werken blijft.

Kort samengevat:

Kritiek geven op ESO als “retarded game” in een privégesprek is genoeg om je account te verliezen. Support leest je context niet eens.

I loved this game for years, and it still has fantastic storylines and a gorgeous world. Zenimax even made some truly great improvements over time.

However, everything changed when Crown Crates (loot boxes) were introduced, and the experience started to go downhill. I don't mind microtransactions—I love cosmetic purchases—but Crown Crates are straight-up gambling, and it feels predatory.

Meanwhile, server stability got worse and worse. Maintenance times ballooned, but nothing actually improved. The European servers, in particular, are laggy and unreliable. It makes me wonder where all that Crown Crate money is even going, because it feels like it's definitely not improving gameplay quality.

I want to recommend ESO, but I just can't anymore. As great as the story and world are, it's impossible to enjoy them with all these issues. Please fix your servers and respect your loyal community!

Update: After a lot of hassle, ESO Support finally resolved all my issues. However, I had to escalate the matter multiple times and persistently push for a resolution. While I appreciate that they ultimately helped me, the process was far from smooth. It took too long, and I often received contradictory or unhelpful responses along the way.

Originally, I rated my experience 1 star because of how frustrating the process was, but since they did solve everything in the end, I am updating my rating accordingly. If their support team were more proactive and efficient from the start, this would have been a much better experience.

Amazing Game, Tedious Customer Support experience

I've been playing The Elder Scrolls Online since 2016, and I absolutely love the game. However, every single time I’ve had to contact customer support, it has been an incredibly frustrating experience.

ESO is an amazing game, but ZeniMax's customer support is one of the worst I’ve ever dealt with. If you run into technical issues, prepare for frustration, delays, and generic responses instead of actual problem-solving. They seriously need to improve this.

What would ESO be without glitches and lagging? Well it would be a game that actually worked but Zenimax do NOT care about a working game or the players for that matter. "Money talks and players walk" must be the way they look at it. It is more important to release all sorts of stupid content and money grabbing DLCs than taking care of the real problems and this is how it has been since the beginning

Worst game developers ever same shit for 5 years. Same shit customer service same shit toxic community. Won't be supporting Bethesda any more. I'd rather play with a hotdog in the backyard..Toxic game. Be careful what u say in your own language because if the American players can't understand it your classed as trolling.

Elder Scrolls Online has seen better days. In comparison to far better MMO's like FFXIV, Fallout76 and recently Thrones & Liberty, Zenimax really needs to step up their game. It's the same events all year round with the same rewards. The zone chats are full of toxicity and toxic players that just make the overall experience of a new person trying to level and enjoy the game difficult. It gets boring very quickly and over the years I have seen a great decline in players. Waiting in group queues gets longer and longer. Take your money elsewhere honestly.

Abzocke ist ein hartes Wort. Denn dürfte man nichts mehr spielen oder kaufen. Was mich an ESO stört ist die Tatsache, dass sich das Spiel immer weiter verschlechtert hat, seit der Loremaster Zenimax verlassen hat. Im Mai 2023 habe ich vor lauter langer Weile das Spiel verlassen und mich auf bessere Games mit super Grafik und Spielvergnügen konzentriert. War die richtige Entscheidung. ZOS setzt alles daran Spieler im Spiel zu halten. Immer mehr Charakterplätze oder auch Sachen die man möchte (Titel, Skins, Begleiter und Reittiere z.B.)! Ich rate jeden ab, mit Hang zur Sucht, dieses Spiel zu spielen. ZOS baut ohne Moral auf Euch. Hast Du einen staken Charakter, kein Problem. Lange Weile tritt irgendwann ein.

On April 22 2024, I got permanently banned. I tried to appeal it but I lost the appeal. All Customer service did was come up with more and more excuses why to keep me banned. It's like they didn't read and understand my appeal. Then as of today the ticket is no longer visible on their website.

Eso customer support is full of a bunch of people who are doing very poorly at their jobs. Also they are very unhelpful.

Back in the day I used to love this game. But over time my love grew into resentment. Bugs that plagued us years ago still linger, despite being vocal about it. One of the worst is getting stuck in combat and not being able to mount or even quit the game.
Each new expansion/zone feels no different from the last. There's just nothing ground breaking. Look at other MMOs like WoW - they added the dragonriding mechanic, letting you take to the skies in a whole different way. ESO will never have anything like this, not while they are using the old Hero engine. Hell, I was walking along the coastline today and bumped into an invisible barrier. I hate this in games. With WoW, if you see it, you can go there. ESO has the opposite philosophy. Mountains and invisible walls are deliberately put in place to make you travel around the long way. It's just so frustrating.
Performance is abysmal. A few years ago I could run this game on Ultra High settings with everything turned up, but with each passing update I've needed to lower it. Right now I can barely play on the lowest settings, with everything turned off (shadows, grass, textures at their lowest, particles at their lowest). I was getting 24 fps in town.
Their support, I wouldn't even bother. You'll continue getting automatic responses until you ask to speak to a human, and even then they don't seem to understand your question to the point where you just close it with your query unanswered.
I can't in good faith recommend this game, even if I did enjoy myself at one time. It's just a front for their absurdly overpriced Crown store.
There seems to be no QA testing. A majority of the major bugs are discovered by the players. A particular set has been one shotting players in PvP. ZOS are aware of it and said they have a fix, but it will take 2 weeks before they will apply it. That's two weeks of players exploiting a broken set, but they didn't mind performing unexpected maintenance in the middle of the day to fix a bug that didn't even break gameplay.
I could go on for days regarding the shortcomings of ESO and its creators (ZOS), but I think you get the idea.

Leider kann man das Spiel wegen einem Fehler nicht herunterladen. Ein Spiel, das man nicht herunterladen kann, ist kein Spiel, sondern nur ein Ärgernis. Bei dem Preis, den man für dieses hier hinblättert, ist das eine echte Zumutung. Ich habe ein Ticket eröffnet und warte nun schon seit Stunden auf eine Antwort. Tatsächlich reinste Abzocke, wie es ein anderer Nutzer bereits beschrieben hat. Die Mitarbeiter, die mit all den Beschwerden umgehen müssen, tun mir auch leid, ist es doch nicht ihre sondern die Schuld der Manager*Innen!

Eso ist einfach nur noch Abzocke ohne wirklichen Gegewert!

Game used to be great but these days it's just hot garbage. Grossly over monetized, with everything purposely designed to be as predatory and deceitful as possible. PVP has been a broken crap show for years and the devs have said numerous times for nearly 8 years that "they're working on it" with no tangible benefits or progress made. I used to love the game back in the day but now it's a complete waste of time.

Ich spiele das Spiel nun schon seit der Beta und es hat sich seither eigentlich sehr gut entwickelt. Es war immer schön nach einigen längeren Pausen den Fortschritt der Entwicklung zu betrachten.

Des Weiteren ist die Community im Verhältnis zu vielen anderen Spielen recht hilfsbereit und arbeitet oftmals auch gut zusammen.

Des Weiteren bietet das Spiel auch sehr viele Möglichkeiten, die Langzeitspaß garantieren.

In the year 2019 people were talking about the problem of waiting 1 min to 20 min to just log into the game.
In the year 2023 i have to wait 1 hour an 20 min to just log in. This ist horrible.

It is an amazing game, been playing on and off for years and there is always so much to do, i like that it can adapt to the free time i have, if i can only play some its fine and if i want to totally game it has alot more than i can handle too, great graphics, only but is the crate system....so faulty and so lucrative its sad...i wish it was more up to luck and not real world money, before they used to do more giveaways, miss that...

Elder Scrolls Online ist ein ausgezeichnetes Spiel, das es dir ermöglicht ganz Tamriel mit 100% gut vertonten und oft auch spannend erzählten Quests zu erkunden. ESO ist ein hochkomplexes MMORPG mit unendlich vielen Features. PVE und PVP machen Spaß und die Möglichkeiten sind grenzenlos. Es gibt ein fantastisches Housing-System, reichlich regelmäßige Events und coole Customizations um deinen Charakter zu gestalten. Das große Problem hinter ESO sind die ständigen Versuche den Spielern mehr und mehr Geld zu entlocken. Zunächst muss erwähnt werden, dass das Game ohne ESO Plus Mitgliedschaft nur halb so viel Spaß macht, weshalb ich permanent mit ESO Plus Mitgliedschaft spiele. Auch negativ erwähnen muss ich die Lootboxen... zwar kein pay-to-win aber pay-to-look-good und leider immer öfter pay-to-progress. Versteht es nicht falsch, auch ohne die Upgrades, die ihr gegen Echtgeld kaufen könnt ist ESO ein gutes Spiel aber durch den ein oder anderen Kauf im Kronenshop kannst du deine Spielerfahrung 100x verbessern. Ich empfehle ESO allen, die ein ausgezeichnetes, kreatives und modernes MMO spielen wollen, sofern sie bereit sind den Entwickler regelmäßig zu bezahlen. Angesichts der Zeit, die ich in ESO verbringe empfinde ich meine Ausgaben für das Spiel als angemessen aber für Gelegenheitsspieler ist ESO nicht das richtige Spiel.
