Be extremely careful when using E-file.com. During checkout, their system defaults you into a "Pay with Refund" option that secretly adds a $40 bank fee on top of their software costs, bringing a simple filing fee up to nearly $100.
If the IRS delays your refund or applies it to an existing debt/offset, their partner bank will automatically trigger an auto-debit on your checking account months later to collect that bloated fee. Their interface is designed to hide these extra charges until it's too late. Avoid this company and file directly through IRS Free File instead.
Update: E-File contacted me via email to apologize for the confusion about the $39.99 third party fee. They refunded the amount within 2 days and also gave me a voucher to file next year for free. They did a good job resolving my issue. However, nothing was mentioned about the process. If I knew that my refund was going to be used to pay into my IRS debt, why would I choose to pay with my return. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Anyway, they made good in my situation so 4 stars.

Not complicated
It was not complicated completing the tax return on e-file.com. The pages were clear and uncluttered. The directions were concise.

I liked the price
I liked the price. But after I left eztaxreturn($984 federal refund) I did this one and only got $888. Anyways, the instructions on CONTINUE are a bit less easy to understand than eztaxreturn cuz it doesn't tell you what to do when you press the wrong button.

Scam. Bait and Switch.
Scam! Says its free but its not. I filled out the info to file for extension and pay my taxes and when I hit submit, it charged me !!!! Pure bait and switch. And thafter I chose the basic option, which they said was free in the beginning.

We apologize for any confusion with this. We do charge for our extension software ($29.99). All extension purchases include free software to file a 1040 tax return between April 20th and October 15th. I suspect this is where you saw the word "free". I am very sorry if this was misinterpreted. You can print a free IRS extension form and mail it here https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4868.pdf. This would not include our software to prepare your 1040. If you plan to print and mail your extension, we advise that you purchase certified delivery from the USPS.
Not user friendly if you have sales from like an eBay account
The format is reasonable, but if you have a tiny eBay business, good luck if you make a mistake! Schedule C doesn't appear to be deletable once you have it.
Considering how many people have small online sales on sites like eBay, there needs to be a separate guide that is clearly listed. I was guessing at
I had to print everything out, both State & Federal forms, and send these via snail mail in order to get rid of a simple mistake.

Your earnings from eBay, even though they were only a few hundred dollars, required you to file a Schedule C. Our software undergoes annual testing with the IRS to ensure everything is in compliance. Removing the IRS required Schedule C, while technically possible, would have resulted in an inaccurate tax return. I'm very sorry for any confusion with this.

We are www.E-file.com, and do not charge $34.95 to file an extension (the fee for this is far less on our website and includes free software to prepare a 1040). software is hard to follow. will not stay backedup. charges for everything incl printing. 4+ hr on hold to reach CS then still didnt solve problem. issues addressed by CS the option keys were not available on computer. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

While our telephone support hold times are longer on April 15th, they are no where near 4 hrs. We apologize that you did not find the explanations in our help section sufficient. We have requested information from you through TrustPilot, to try and assist you further, but you did not respond. Our Basic (free federal) version includes online & email support. Our Deluxe and Premium versions include telephone support whenever you have a question. Unfortunately, it does not sound like you utilized any of these.
Very helpful.
I like that you answer questions and are guided through the filing.
