First time author guided through the publishing process.
I am a first time "author". I place author in quotes because that was never my intention. I was simply trying to leave a record of my struggles with Lewy Body Dementia for my children and grandchild. The folks at Digital Book Publishers, LLC soon convinced me of the value this book for other LBD patients, their loved ones and caregivers, physcians and, indeed, anyone involved in the world of dementia.
My initial contacts at the company were an excellent introduction to the company and did a reasonably good job of introducing the company and it's philosophy although there were a few things I do wish I had known at the beginning. Soon, though, I was introduced to the true star of my time during the nitty gritty of the publishing process. My project manager, Miss Fia David, expertly guided me through this grueling process. She was available anytime I needed her, she never failed to answer my questions, to return a promised phone call, or to ease my insecurities. She was both knowledgeable and compassionate with my nervousness. It is almost entirely thanks to Miss David that my disjointed writings became a manuscript and then a book. A big thank you is owed to this kind lady.
I mentioned earlier there were things I wish I had known from the beginning. These primarily concerned additional costs associated with the publication of the book. Items such as an additional cost to apply for the IBSN and barcode which were necessary for publication and distribution, the elaborate marketing plan, and the purchase of the LCCN. None of these were cheap and none were discussed, as best as I can remember, in the beginning. They were each broached when they became necessary to the process. Had this been my second or twentieth book, I'm sure this would not have been the same issue.
Overall, I highly recommend this company, and Miss David in particular, for your book publishing needs.
