They've been systematically removing trained installers and filling the gaps with agency staff, so next to zero continuity on installation quality.

Vans on the road with multiple dashboard warning lights, and any attempt to raise this with management simply fell on deaf ears unless the wheels were practically falling off the axles.

As of 15th July 2025, the company has been placed into administration and they've made over 100 staff members redundant.

Any company currently with contracts for furniture packages with David Phillips shouldn't be surprised if current projects are terminated at short notice.

Communication was been challenging. The quality of their items is moderate, and their approach often feels as if they're doing you a favour rather than trying to complete a sale.

As a novice landlord, I chose David Philips’ furnishing package for my newly purchased flat in Manchester for its simplicity. Unfortunately, after my first tenant moved out, I began to notice several issues worth highlighting — especially for others in similar situations.

Some of the furniture, such as the bed frame, did not follow standard UK sizing. When I needed to replace the mattress, I discovered that standard-sized options didn’t fit properly. This left me with two unappealing choices: either pay extra for a custom mattress or settle for one that didn’t fit the frame. In the end, I felt forced to repurchase from David Philips.

What prompted the replacement was a noticeable indentation in the mattress after just 17 months of tenancy. David Philips examined it and claimed there was no manufacturing defect — instead blaming the issue on lack of rotation and the tenant sleeping in the same position.

This explanation seems inadequate. Most people shift positions 10 to 20 times per night, and standard care guidelines suggest rotating a mattress every 3 months. Over a 17-month tenancy, that would mean 5–6 rotations — yet tenants are rarely informed or expected to do this.

For comparison, my own personal mattress — never rotated in over four years — remains intact and supportive. This raises a fair question: is the issue truly the tenant’s fault, or is it one of design quality or suitability for rental use?

I even asked whether they would consider extending the warranty period under the circumstances, but as expected, the request was declined.

Although Ellie from David Philips followed up on my case diligently and was willing to offer a discount, I still had to bear part of the replacement cost. If the product quality had been more robust, the issue might not have arisen in the first place.

Prompt amd responsive long term customer service.

The customer support from Sasha was excellent. Polite and helpful when I had to change the delivery date.

Dealt with Sarah Young on multiple occasions, and as a real estate agent she understands how to work with me and my company in providing the best possible service.

Aaron Coates is amazing! He has helped source various furniture at very short notice for tenanted properties I manage in the Soho, Mayfair and Tottenham Court Road area. Tenants are always happy with the quick turnaround and the furniture items are good quality and expertly delivered with old items removed at the same time. I would highly recommend David Phillips and ask for Aaron if you have a choice! :-)

Recently used David Phillips for the first time, after them being recommended by a friend.

The whole experience was fantastic, I called and spoke to a lovely man called Aarron, who asked me about my needs and preferences about my mattress, he then discussed options with me and made recommendations on what products would be the fastest delivery.

We placed the order and received delivery the following day!! I requested an early delivery slot, and he said he couldn't guarantee this, but would leave a note for the transport team to try and get this delivered early.

The next day. The delivery men came bright and early, they were extremely pleasant (sorry I didn't catch their names!), and swapped my mattress out really quickly!

I have slept fantastic since receiving my new mattress! I couldn't recommend David Phillips, the team and the Audley mattress enough.

I bought a sofa in November 2023. It’s only been a year and month but all the screws started coming off. When I contacted them they said since it’s been over a year they can’t do anything about it.
