Cura originally assisted in securing insurance for me a few years ago, and due to a recent change in circumstances I have just reviewed my entire insurance package with their help. Their detailed and friendly communication throughout both experiences has made the process very easy, and I'm extremely happy with the service provided. I will be recommending Cura to others.

Disappointing service - contradicting statements, jumping to conclusions, not explaining what they are doing / not able to provide details when being asked. would not recommend. Never got a quote, they admitted that they have only answered all questions from experience instead of reaching out to insurers.

Edit: and explicitly adding that they didn't send quotations from insurers, they didn't even reach out to insurers but answered everything from "experience". In addition, I was told by their director to not contact them anymore when I wanted details, as details are needed to challenge the underwriting position (which turned out to not have happened at all). This is a warning for everyone with underlying conditions: you can do better, there is better brokers out there, and I would recommend to search for them 🙃 And no, the director didn't send the Biba contacts if anyone is still wondering... that happened before, in the same breath as saying that they wouldn't want to properly start enquiries for me. So this was not a helpful gesture but a clear indication to go away with underlying conditions - a dangerous precedent as the system relies for people to go via brokers. Denying service equals denying access to the insurance process and the market is hostile enough as whatever one gets away with is quickly set as a new standard. Specifically referring to other aspects of the insurance process here as well, like sweeping exclusions that go against medical evaluations, but to focus on the role of a broker alone: if we like the system or not, we must play the game of enquiries, getting feedback in writing and only then the medical evidence can be brought forward. Hence, refusal of the 1st step leads to immediate exclusions for everything else as well.

I submitted a detailed enquiry on 3 May regarding life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection. I provided extensive information upfront, including my medical history, insurance requirements and supporting medical evidence, to help the process move efficiently.
After several days, I was contacted and asked to repeat information that had already been supplied. Following additional medical information that I provided on 17 May, I received no meaningful update until I chased the case myself on 28 May.
My main frustration was not that underwriting takes time - I fully understand that insurers need time to assess complex medical cases. My concern was the lack of proactive communication and the need for repeated follow-ups just to understand what was happening with my enquiry.
When I raised concerns about the delays and communication, I expected some acknowledgement, explanation or attempt to address those concerns. Instead, I received an email from Managing Director Alan Knowles stating that Cura's service levels did not align with my expectations and that he had decided to close my enquiry altogether.
What surprised me most was that a customer expressing dissatisfaction about communication was effectively shown the door rather than having their concerns addressed.
I appreciate that underwriting delays are often outside an adviser's control. However, keeping clients informed is entirely within a firm's control, especially when people are seeking protection for their family's financial future.
Based on my experience, Cura Insurance may not be the right choice if you value regular updates, proactive communication and constructive handling of customer concerns.
