You've got it exactly right and I'm glad you said so, because that first cloudy glass can make some people worry.
Two things happen on a brand new carbon system. Fine carbon dust washes out of the fresh media, and air gets trapped in the line. The air is usually what's behind the milky look. Next time, try pouring a glass and watch it: if it clears from the bottom up, that's air working its way out rather than anything in your water.
Both tend to settle once the system has run a while, and the taste comes along with them. A little trick, for you next time and for anyone reading this, is to let a new system or a fresh cartridge run for a bit before you drink from it. That flushes the dust and clears the air out first.
If it still hasn't cleared, send over your order # and any other info you'd like to share to help@crystalquest.com and I'll take a look.

Wonderful customer service first off. I had about 1000 questions about the filters and all the different and I got a prompt and thorough reply to every email I sent ! Also the filters came in quick and the quality is great! I’m happy to have my filters again in my new place. I feel much more comfortable showering and drinking the town water now :)

5-star arsenic filter
The filter arrived quickly (even ahead of schedule)! We installed the filter in our basement on the water line that runs to our refrigerator. (Installation should be done by a plumber, or someone with extensive plumbing experience.) We followed the instructions and ran the refrigerator’s water dispenser for 10 minutes after installation. At-home arsenic testing showed a significant reduction in arsenic to a safe (almost undetectable) level! I’m thrilled to be able to use water and ice from our refrigerator after a year of purchasing bottled water and bagged ice! This filter will pay for itself within about 2 months in our household.

System still leaking after o-ring replacement
Even after replacing all six o-rings, i'm still getting leaks. Our system is 8 years old. We are thinking of switching to a new one.

On a system that age, a persistent leak can often be something a specialist can help pinpoint quickly, such as a worn housing, a seating issue, or over-tightening, and it might not always be a sign the whole system is done.
