Nile Cuise, M/S Semiramis
Just finishing a Nile cruise on the M/S Semiramis, and as a seasoned traveller we booked specifically to visit the ancient sites, in this instant it ticked all the boxes and was amazing, however, maybe it was a lack of foresight on our part but all the cruises we've sailed on you travel as a group with a company rep in attendance for the duration, joining together, tours and leaving together. This wasn't the case here.
When booking I asked the nationally of other passengers and was informed predominantly UK nationals, out of over 100 people onboard 6 English were travelling with Classic, and 3 English couples travelling independently, the majority being German, Egyptian and some French, again, mostly travelling independently, approximately onlly 20 people stayed the whole return journey, although the ship was always full. it was almost like the locals used this vessel as a bus service, jumping on at one port and leaving at the next..I'm not saying it affected our experience, the crew were wonderful, the ship was clean although quite worn out, as expected from a 25 year old with such a high turnover of passengers.
The cruise itself depends on expectations, you do not berth in Luxor, as advertised but 30 - 40 minutes up river, this was disappointing for us as being returning visitors we had plans had we been in the centre as we'd thought. Edfu, 2 hour stop to visit temple, all felt a bit rushed before continuing to KomOmbo, again 2 hour stop to visit temple and crocodile museum, due to late arrival this was done mostly in the dark, although being floodlit I found it rather inspiring, again very rushed, Then on to Aswan for Abu Simbel, some tours we organised ourselves through "Getyourguide" which worked out 50% cheaper than those offered onboard.
This for us ticked all our boxes, visiting all the famous sites and sailing on the Nile was awe inspiring, yes, there were 20 other ships doing the same route at the same time, and it could get busy, but we loved it.
Lastly, water is a necessity and I feel should be available free of charge at mealtimes and on excursions, charging $3 for a bottle which costs 20 Egyptian pounds (25pence) locally is slightly excessive, Beers were $5 and wine started at $20,

Pyramids and Nile cruise
Fantastic trip from start to finish and I have to say our best holiday so far.
We were looked after so well from before we had even left home. Thank uou Dean at Classic holidays.
The trip was super organised and it was very reassuring to be met at the airport and taken to our hotel, (and that applied to all elements of the whole trip actually).
The Steigenberger hotel was lovely and our rooms had pyramid views which we enjoyed very much. Food and staff were great and hotel was very clean.
The trip to the pyramids and sphinx was well organised but would have loved to have had more time there. The GEM museum is amazing and well worth visiting.
We then flew to Luxor to pick up the Nile cruise and again we were met at the airport before we had even collected our luggage and it just felt reassuring that we were being looked after so well.
The boat was just so lovely and the staff were so very happy and friendly. The food was amazing and varied and you certainly did not go hungry.
We were lucky to have Safwat as our brilliant guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and very easy to listen to. Have to say a huge thanks to him for making it so interesting. On occasions we also had Hany who again was a brilliant guide too.
The trips were very well organised and were so very worthwhile. There were early starts but it meant we missed the crowds.
The whole trip was just fantastic from start to finish and really can’t fault it at all.

Nile Cruise MS Princess and Cairo Trip
This predominant cruise holiday on the Nile was excellently organised in every way. From the moment we landed at Luxor we were met by a rep and this level of service remained throughout including being escorted through the initial airport arrivals.
The food on board the MS Princess was buffet style but extremely good and varied with lots of fresh fruit and salads. The sweets were excellent.
Drink on board is mainly local wine and beer. The local beer Stella not to be confused with the Belgium variety is light and refreshing and costs about £2 for a large bottle. 4.5 abv. A bottle of wine is about £15 and very drinkable. Unless you intend drinking your own bodyweight in alcohol I wouldn’t recommend the all inclusive upgrade. The ship itself is in a 1920’s theme. It has apparently been upgraded recently. The cabins are spacious. My only niggle would be the bathroom which was tired and needs a refurbishment but functioned fine in view we were on a ship. The staff on the ship were excellent in every way. The group inclusive tipping regime is a great idea but doesn’t preclude additional tipping if you feel inclined, this is not expected however. The Egyptologists are excellent and as there were about 55 in our UK group we had Hany and Big George. They are incredibly knowledgeable and approachable and cannot do too much to make your experience as memorable as possible.
Seeing the included excursions to see the valley of the kings and queens,
Karnak, Philae Temple and many more was amazing. We opted for the trip to Abu Simbel also which is not to be missed but is a long day. The boat trip to the bird sanctuary was also well worth it.
Please be aware Egypt is a developing country and therefore sadly there is a lot of poverty, street dogs working animals etc. This inevitably means western tourists are considered very wealthy which in context we are. Be prepared for being approached in order to sell you items. That being said this is not aggressive and a firm approach is sufficient if you do not want to buy. This is a relatively active holiday and a reasonable level of mobility is required. Much of the ground around the temples and sights is uneven and there is some walking and of course it’s a hot climate and there are some boats to board. A few in our group with some limited mobility did at times struggle but they were helped by others in the group. It’s not difficult at all but Just be aware of this if you have mobility issues. We also room the options of having a short stay in Cairo opting to stay at the Hyatt Regency at Giza. This is a lovely hotel and the food is fabulous.
We were escorted by another Classic Holidays Egyptologist “little”George who took us to the pyramids,
Sphinx and the new museum. He was great and it was an unforgettable amazing day. The museum could easily be a whole day experience but also you can see the main exhibits including the Tutankhamen area in a half day. We flew with Egypt Air. The planes were fine and food good also. No alcohol on these planes.
The planes are very hot so dress accordingly!! So a fabulous bucket list type holiday I would very much recommend.

Amazing…

Egypt is mind blowing!
We had a great time. Three nights in Cairo (you have to see the incredible new Museum) and then 7 days on the Nile. All transfers went very smoothly, cars and coaches were all on time.There were some early starts, but all with good reason.
Our guide on the Royal Princess, Hany, was excellent. He knew his stuff and was good at communicating it. He looked anfter all his guests, not just on the tours, and was always approachable.
The US attacked Iran while we were there. Some friends asked if we were okay, but we were hundreds of miles from the conflict and never felt in any danger whatsoever.

How anyone can complain about this company is beyond me.
We had a problem with our booked room before travelling and it was sorted out quickly by Dan at Classic Holidays, thank you Dan.
Safwat was our guide for all the tours from the boat, very informative and helpful, and Hany, the other guide was also available to us. Both a credit to Classic Holidays and you are very lucky to have them both.
Everything was delivered as promised and carried out our professionally with fun and made a wonderful experience.
Our first guide to see the pyramids and the GEM was very good, however he could have spent more time giving us information on the coach to give us more time at these 2 major attractions.
Do be aware that there are early starts and the many tours will be a bit challenging. But this is to get us into the attractions before they get busy and very worthwhile. We were always back on the boat ready for more fabulous food, be it lunch or afternoon tea. And everyone was looked after througout each day, we felt safe and cared for.
This really has been our best holiday ever and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone thinking of a trip of a lifetime to Egypt.

River Nile cruise Cabin from Hell.
River Nile cruise, Cabin front Hell.
We booked the cruise on the understanding that it would be a Cabin on middle to upper levels.
We was at the ground Front.
Therefore when moored the exhaust fumes found it way into the cabin, as the sliding doors were at a Usless level of sealing. Thus causing major beathing issues, we left the cabin door open on returning from trips to let the fumes out.
The constant nose was Horrific, none stop through the night.
We complained the following day, but they had no free cabins to change to.
It turned into a nightmare.
We cannot recommend this cruise UNLESS you have written guarantee about the Cabin location.
We immediately complained to the person on the boat of which we was lead to believe was a representative of Classic Holidays, of which was then escalated to the boats manager.
Of which Nothing happened to resolve the issues.
Classic Holidays failed to mention the Security would be on board with Machine guns, & would accompany us on some excursions.

At the same time, we did not receive any direct contact from you during the cruise via the 24/7 contact details provided in our pre-departure information, and only became aware of these issues from your review above and from your email after you had disembarked.
As explained in our pre-departure information, where clients are unable to resolve any problems locally, they are asked to contact Classic Holidays directly so that matters can be escalated whilst they are still away. Had we heard from you directly during the cruise, we would have escalated the matter with the boat owner whilst you were still travelling.
We always want our customers to feel supported when problems arise, and we are sorry that, without direct contact from you whilst you were on the cruise, we were not able to try to resolve this during your holiday.
The full circumstances surrounding how and why this cabin was allocated to you have been passed to the boat owner for investigation.
We also note from your onboard feedback form that you rated the following positively:
Reception: service received from reception - Excellent; appearance of reception/staff - Excellent.
Lounge bar: cleanliness - Excellent; quality of service received - Excellent.
Food: quality of food served - Excellent; variety of food served - Excellent.
Dining room: cleanliness - Excellent; quality of service received - Excellent.
Sundeck: quality/condition of sunbeds - Excellent; swimming pool - Excellent.
Cabin: standard of cabin cleaning - Excellent; quality of bathroom - Excellent.

Housekeeping overall impression - Excellent.
Transportation - Excellent.
Excursions - Excellent.
Your onboard feedback form also recorded an overall boat rating of Good, which is considered to be broadly equivalent to a 4-star assessment rather than a 1-star review.
You also confirmed on the form that you did enjoy your cruise experience.
We further note the positive comments you made on your forms regarding your guide, that the tours were well executed and to a high standard, that the excursions went above and beyond, and the onboard food and drink.
We also note that we have checked with our other passengers in the immediate vicinity of your cabin, all of whom had a lovely time and none of whom reported any issues with fumes. This indicates that the situation appears to have been the result of a specific issue with your cabin sliding balcony door rather than the location of the cabin itself and, had we been contacted during the cruise, we could have escalated this immediately with the boat owner and management so that it could be addressed at the time.
Whilst we respect your opinion and the concerns you have raised, including your comments in your email that the fumes arose from other boats on the Nile rather than from the boat itself, we also note that your onboard feedback form recorded predominantly positive ratings across many other aspects of the cruise, including an overall boat rating of Good and confirmation that you did enjoy your cruise experience.
We also note your comment regarding armed security personnel being present onboard the boat and accompanying certain excursions. Whilst Egypt is a very safe country, we take the safety and security of our clients extremely seriously. Armed guards are present as a precautionary measure to help ensure client safety, and these arrangements have been in place for many years.

We are a family of 4 - two adults and two teenagers (aged 18 and 15 years). We went to Egypt with Classic holidays during the February 1/2 term. We found it very well organised, with important information shared prior to the trip and transfers once we arrived all sorted - even a ferry boat at 3 am to take us off the island hotel in order to catch our early morning flight. The cruise boat was excellent - all staff friendly, cabins comfortable and great view, watching the world go by from your french style windows. The food on board was generally internationally cuisine and there was plenty of food and it tasty.
The trips were very early starts , e.g. some at 4.45 am to beat the mid-day heat and the crowds. We thought our teenage daughters would not come with us, but they did and really enjoyed the trips, especially to the pyramids and botanical gardens. It was a good experience for them, as there are a lot of poor people, and they could see how privileged a life we lead in the UK. Each trip was hosted by the qualified Egyptologist - who were extremely knowledgeable and made sure we were safe and together at all times.
We would recommend classic holidays - great holiday enjoyed by all of us - thank you.

It is how they react when things don't go to plan
Recently returned from 3 nights Cairo (Steinberger Pyramids) 7 nights Nile Cruise (MS Royal Princess) 7 nights Hurghada (Fort Arabesque).
Every transfer/accommodation/food were excellent and couldn't be faulted.
We were looked after from start to finish whether that be a representative of Classic Holidays or hotel or boat staff.
Tips from Classic Holidays re drinks packages on the boat (don't bother) were spot on.
Tipping in advance on the boat was extremely helpful and then we just gave a few £ to our favourites.
Egyptologist guides Adel and George were brilliant and very knowledgable, we learnt so much and they made this magical trip very memorable.
We didn't use Classic Holidays excursions in Cairo as these were very expensive and booked our own at a 3rd of the price and talking to others equally as a good.
It is the mark of a travel company on how they react when things don't go to plan makes them stand out and truly earns our five stars.
7 days before the final legs of our trip, Egypt air informed us that they had changed our flight from Hurghada to Cairo from 13:00 in the afternoon to 08:00 in the morning, that would give us 7 hours instead of 1 to kill in Cairo airport before flying on to Heathrow. One call to Classic Holidays in the UK and Dean who answered the phone, owned the problem. He kept us informed by email and WhatsApp of progress. He reorganised our transfer to airport, accepted the flight change with Egypt Air, arranged for us to be met at Cairo and transferred to and from a very nice airport hotel, providing us with a day room and a buffet lunch, all without any extra charge. A very impressive service.
My only criticism would be that before you travel, Classic Holidays email you multiple flight itineraries, accommodation vouchers and transfer vouchers alongside a Nile Cruise Guide. They recommend that you have these in hard copy....so down to the library we went. We were only asked for one hard copy transfer voucher so this was a waste of time/money and bad for the environment. With the cost of the holiday Classic should post these to you if they are absolutely necessary in my opinion. Or they need to talk to their partners in Egypt to establish if these vouchers are actually necessary. A very small gripe and doesn't detract from the holiday, just a recommendation for improvement.

The Pyramids, GEM and a Nile cruise
We had the most wonderful holiday, everything was so well thought out for the enjoyment and convenience of the customer. The Steinbergen hotel in Giza exceeded expectations, the Orbital staff who looked after us in Egypt were superb. The excellent Egyptologists who took us on our tours were super knowledgeable and helpful. The boat we cruised on to Aswan and back from Luxor was the Royal Princess which was just charming. The food was plentiful and delicious, the staff on board were friendly, really funny and efficient. The young man who cleaned our room twice a day was a joy with his towel animals and his happy demeanor. It was the holiday of a lifetime and I'm glad we chose an experienced firm like Classic to provide it for us.

Great Tour and Relaxation Time
A highly recommended 9 day ancient Egypt tour and Nile Cruise combined with a week’s relaxation in a Hurgada beach resort. A well managed process from start to finish that ticked all the boxes including a breath taking tour of all the principal ancient sites with very good hotels and a wonderful river cruising boat. The only criticism was that some of the tour was rushed due to scheduling issues.

A wonderful trip
From the initial booking to the final journey home everything was seamless. We were met in Luxor, visas sorted for us, help at passports and baggage collection then taken to our boat, Blue Shadow IV. We met our guide;a knowledgeable,helpful and very friendly man called Petro. We visited marvellous sites such as temples at Karnak,Luxor,Philae andKom Ombo. We also had afternoon tea at the Cataracts Hotel. We were really well looked after by the guide and boat staff. Food was plentiful with wide variety. A really good trip. Be prepared for very early starts,they are worth it.
