I visited the shop yesterday looking for gifts for a couple of stationery loving friends. The store staff were extremely friendly, answered my questions and gift wrapped the items I bought at no extra charge. A beautiful shop that is quite pricey, but full of things you won't find elsewhere.

I ordered three expensive but lovely novelty clementine keyrings as Christmas presents. One friend loved it but other two (my adult daughters) didn’t want as not to their taste and I was assuming I could return as unopened. However the team at Finders Jeepers said it was outside their strict 2 week returns policy. Even at Christmas! I find that bizarre as their stock is quirky so it can be hit or miss and most shops/businesses give some leeway around Christmas.

I bought a fountain pen at the store in January 2025 and saved it to open for my birthday, a few weeks later.
I was very excited to see it and the cartridges I'd bought as I had never spent so much money on a pen before.
Imagine my disappointment when, on inserting the cartridge, a small piece of plastic fell out of the chamber and the cartridge subsequently didn't fit properly.
I emailed the shop and received a series of frankly unpleasant replies.
Basically the shop owner didn't believe that the problem was not of my making and made no effort to sympathise or try to put it right.
She said I could call in ( I live over 200 miles from the store) for some help in inserting the cartridge or I could send it back for her to look at but without holding out any hope that she could help mend it or replace it.
She did not offer to pay the postage or replace the faulty item and made me feel bad about complaining.
I then wrote to Pilot (who made the pen) and they said it was not one of theirs despite them being the only distributor in the UK, but it had been 'imported' through a different source, so they couldn't help either.
I am also a retailer and I know the importance of customer care. This store demonstrated a complete lack of any empathy or willingness to help and I will not be buying from them again. I was interested to read the only other review on Trustpilot which echoed my feelings.
The store is beautiful, filled with beautiful, expensive things. It's very sad that the customer care and service does not match up to the standard of (most) of the products.

I don't like to give bad reviews and I really want to like this shop but this is not the first time I have had a bad experience in there. I went in to buy a pencil, listed at £30 on their website but found their in-store price was £45, which they insisted was correct. They blamed the web vs shop price discrepancy on 'not updating the website after Christmas', which strikes me as an odd reason, not to mention a 50% price hike. I can accept that they didn't want to sell the item for £30, that is their prerogative, though I did mention that £45 seemed over-priced, as that item generally costs around £30 from other vendors. That was not received well, the intimation was that I was lying to them (I'm not sure why they thought I would lie to them about this, it was clear where they stood, and at no point had I been in any way presumptions or aggressive, in fact I was the one who had been taking the apologetic tone all the way through, being quintessentially British about it and all...). The attitude from both of the managers who came to see me about this issue was not one of trying to solve a problem, and there was no good humour or goodwill about it; rather, it felt as though they viewed me as the problem for flagging up the price discrepancy in the first place. I thought it was a bit heavy-handed, two managers coming out to see me together, it was intimidating. I found the whole episode humiliating and it has put me off going into the shop at all in the future.

It has been around 2 years since I actually bought a composition ledger notebook from c.k and they are very good quality and lovely, really lovely patterns, very classy, customer service in shop was good and very beautifully set out displays.
