Thank you for the opportunity to clarify the considerable steps taken by ourselves, DHL and the University to complete this delivery.
DHL attended the address within the notified two-hour delivery window. The university building was closed and, noting that the only delivery request provided was “expedite delivery”, the driver took the parcel to the University’s central mailroom rather than returning it to the depot. It was signed for by a member of university staff, and the mailroom made a second attempt to deliver it to the recipient later that day, but the building remained closed.
When you contacted us after 5.30pm, we remained available beyond our normal working hours, liaised directly with DHL and university staff, located the parcel and arranged for it to be held securely in refrigerated storage until the recipient could collect it. We can now confirm that the parcel has been collected.
We take the delivery of perishable products extremely seriously. When an unforeseen problem occurs, our first priority is always to resolve it safely and practically. Where that is not possible, we will arrange a replacement or refund. In this instance, despite the original university building being closed, the parcel was located, refrigerated and successfully handed to its intended recipient.
