Care credit has the worst customer…
Care credit has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I usually use CareCredit for my dental work. I've had three bouts of cancer in the last few years two of which required chemotherapy. I couldn't get dental work while I was getting chemotherapy. Now I am ready to go to the dentist and have my teeth cleaned and get an examination and I checked that my CareCredit card was still valid it expires in 2028. I called up to make sure that there was nothing on it and was told over the phone that it was canceled. It was canceled for non-use. I only use it for dental and if I have chemotherapy I can't get dental work. Thank goodness I looked it up before I went to the dentist and was embarrassed there. Absolutely no customer service by this company. They could have written me a letter and said we're going to cancel your card if we you don't use it they did not. Customer service was just lip service They offered nothing. Do not do not do not open an account with CareCredit They are the worst.
Uninformed customer service
Uninformed customer service, they will drop your calls (3 times) very frustrating. They ask you to call and apply by phone then give you a run around. Claim they mailed letters explaining their decision. No letters came. Send you emails to press link to their decision and it goes to a blank page. I have a 750-820 credit score. Their loss.I would explore other options
Not a safe way to prepare for emergency vet visits
My experience is likely similar to others. I had a care credit card for 5+ years, and in that time never had a late payment with them or any other creditor or bank. One year I accrued thousands of dollars of vet bills and paid them off within a few months. Care Credit however does periodic credit checks, and despite good history and payments, they will close your account due to lack of activity and if they feel your credit has declined at all. I had this card purely for emergencies with my pets, and a good portion of their advertising is centered around pet care and emergency preparedness, but it is clear this isn't truly a goal of their business, and they do not respect or value their customers.
The WORST customer service experience
The WORST customer service experience. They have some system error that has confused banking information which they will not take accountability for. They're trying to tell me I have 2 bank accounts, 1 of which rejected my payment and caused a late fee. I have had the same bank account as when I opened my Care Credit card 13 years ago. The app somehow has my correct banking info. but they don't. They're not willing to look into the error and said it was my fault. Okay, sounds great. Thank you for being assholes.
Interest rate SCAMMERS
Make sure you read the fine print!!! If you don’t have your balance paid off within their terms they will charge you an excessive amount of interest! They are a bunch of interest scammers capitalizing on people’s grief/frustration and inability to pay for their dog/cat companions procedures so they say “hey apply for our card, we’ll pay for your pet to get fixed right up! Sign the dotted line and you don’t have to worry at least not until 12 months if you don’t have your balance paid in full!” They’re in on it with the emergency veterinarian hospitals and I would not be surprised to see those same veterinarian hospitals pockets getting lined for each customer/Victim they send Care Credits way.
CareCredit is hands down the most…
CareCredit is hands down the most frustrating, predatory company I’ve ever dealt with. I tried to make a payment using my only linked bank account — one that works just fine everywhere else — and they claimed it was “closed.” Then they hit me with a returned payment fee and refused to refund it, despite the fact that I never added any other account, and the charge never even hit my bank.
I contacted customer service, and it was like talking to a broken record. Just repeated “sorry, nothing we can do” while dodging any real help. No accountability. No logic. Just a smug wall of robotic replies and zero resolution.
They’re more than happy to charge fees and ruin your credit over their own screw-up. This isn’t a one-off — judging by other reviews, this is a pattern of behavior. They thrive on confusion, poor support, and buried policies.
Do yourself a favor: don’t ever open a CareCredit account. Just use a real credit card with actual customer service. These people are the payday lenders of medical financing
I requested a 4-day extension to pay so…
I requested a 4-day extension to pay so that I could receive my paycheck, as unexpected bills had arisen, and they informed me that the most they could do for me was to impose a late fee. I ASKED FOR 4 DAYS, THAT'S ALL !! Absolutely ridiculous, and such an unhelpful company like you will still get your money.
Garbage company
Garbage company. They are not set up to help or assist you. This is a company that is purely set up to take advantage of you. These people are making a lot of money off people with serious medical problems.
DOESN'T CARE CREDIT
Company should be called DOESN'T CARE CREDIT. I had just a few hundred dollars left to pay for my dog's emergency vet bill, asked for their help in a very desperate situation as I lost my roommate and had to pay rent alone for a month instead of being able to pay off the last bit of my bill and they slapped me with $1200 in interest! They do not care about anyone but themselves and robbing people. DO NOT USE THEM!
Worst credit company ever
Worst credit company ever. I first applied end of May of 2024 and was approved for $5,500 in June. Never used it yet, By December/January my credit score dropped dramatically because they for no reason at all dropped my credit amount from $5,500 to $250. I used 1 time after thinking this would help it go back up or something logical. I quickly paid it off to a zero balance again. My card was valid till 2029, but as of July 14th they closed my account for no reason and hurt my credit a third time. I wish I have never dealt with this company. People always say get a CareCredit card to help your credit. Wrong! don't do it they hurt my credit dropping it an average of 18 or more points each time.
I tried for many years to get Care…
I tried for many years to get Care Credit. I finally got it and was being very responsible with using it and making sure my payments were early and usually more than the required amount due. Last month my payment was returned twice. I was late getting paid at my job and I made the payment good within a few days. I went to open the app and it was closed. There were no phone calls, no email, nothing to alert me that my account was in jeopardy. When I called to see if I had any options to save it, I was met with the most rude and hateful representative. I was told a letter was sent and my account was permanently closed. The letter has never gotten here and I’m just so disappointed and angry at the entire thing. Yes I accept my part in this but I’ve never had an account closed out this fast and met with such horrible customer service. What happened to giving people a chance? I couldn’t help that my deposit was late. Any other company will call and talk to you to try and resolve the issue. It didn’t matter that I had done everything right since I had the card or made extra payments. Now I have a flaw back on my credit and still have to pay on this account. One star is way too generous in my opinion. If you have stars in your eyes and think getting this card is a good thing, it’s not. This has been the worst experience I’ve had with a company and I will continue to share my bad reviews to whomever will listen.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. I just missed the deadline for a 0% promotion which I didn't receive any correspondence about and I was charged a ridiculous amount in interest. I called to inquire about having it waived if I paid the balance in full and was told a flat out no. I would not recommend this as the rate is ridiculous.
Close your account ASAP
I have been making monthly if not bi-weekly payments, had my credit go up 40 points since March (it's mid July), and I have been paying down my other cards as well. My initial credit limit was $2,500 and find out today checking out at the dentist that they dropped my credit limit to $250! So now I have 90% of my availabile credit utilized. From someone who has been working their (i'll say) butt off to improve their credit, care credit just screwed me. When I spoke to a supervisor regarding this situation I was informed they sent the letter yesterday regarding the credit limit change which was the day they changed the limit. Overall bad business, from the communication to the way they hurt my credit from closing my account (with no communication) previously for paying off the card and not using it for 3 months to now dropping my overall credit limit by 90% and not caring about the affect on my credit score because of that move. I will be paying my balance due and closing the account. The buisness I work for also uses care credit. As an emergency veterinary technician I will promote them to save a fur babies life, but tell the owners to close the account asap because this is not a company worth working with long term.
Don't do it
Don't do it. You're better off getting a regular cc with no interest for whatever time. I did a balance transfer of 100% of what I owed and they're telling me I still owe for interest on top of interest that I ALREADY paid. Didn't care, wouldn't do anything about it. I've had this issue with another card once before and they took care of the issue...making their name quite ironic
THEY closed my account due to a mistake on their end
I’ve had this card for a few years. It was honestly really great for me as a single mom. I’ve always done a great job paying promotions off in time and making payments early. This past November I noticed that a payment of $1000.03 came out of my bank account. When I called them to get it cleared up they said that they could refund me but the check would take 2-3 weeks to get to me. During this time, my bank had placed a “do not pay” while we tried to figure out why the money was taken. My minimum due for that month was $37 and I most likely paid $100, but no way $1000.03! Cut to the next month and I assume I make a payment but I’m notified that it was kicked back. I paid early, so I catch this before the due date. I call them and pay with a different card. Next month, the same thing happens. During Christmas break, I get a letter in the mail stating that my account was closed because of kicked back payments. Apparently, if you have two within a calendar year then the account is automatically closed. I spent FOREVER trying to deal with customer service to find out why my account was closed due to an error that originally started on their end. I was told I could challenge it by getting my bank to provide documentation that showed that there was a “do not pay” placed on their end that was never lifted in time and that may show that it was never my mistake. It should take 90 days. It took 6 months and was still denied. Since January, I’ve had to pay not only for my medication monthly out of pocket, but I’ve had to pay at least $600 a month to avoid interest rates and pay off promotions. That has been at least $1200 monthly on medical alone. Closing this account also butchered my credit. It was one of my oldest credit lines. When I asked them “what do I do now?” They replied with “you can always reapply.” I will NOT be and can’t wait to be done paying this card off next month so I can completely cut ties with them.
Note: there’s even a questionable $200 charge on the account AFTER the account was closed. When I tried to get clarification on this they claimed it was some challenge credit (that I never made) and they gave me money and now I need to pay them? It makes no sense but I’m so over them that I just want to pay it and be done forever.
This used to be a great company
This used to be a great company. They weren’t money grubbing when I joined them years ago. Now? The customer service is hard to understand, not to mention my last call with them the guy was condescending and clearly has no idea what the customer experience is within their app. I do not understand why ALL my promo purchases AND standard purchases (non promos) aren’t all listed in the same place as they’ve always been so that I can keep track of what needs paid first and when. This random time my purchase is not listed there. Customer service kept telling me it’s on my statement and that’s where I need to look. Yes, but it’s not in the app where all my other purchases are, so apparently I’ve been accruing interest and didn’t know because it’s not listed with a “until paid off” label, it’s just nonexistent but still included in my total balance. This is a change from what I’m used to and what my other charges show so yes, I am confused.
Not only that, but now you have to call to ask them to apply your payments to non promo charges first (otherwise they apply them to the charges you have six months to pay off) this is so you end up owing interest. They used to apply my payments to non promo charges FIRST, but they act like that was never a thing and now you have to contact them each time. And you can’t do it in the app yourself.
Lastly, starting this year we don’t gain rewards points over $200 purchases. They can’t give us measley rewards to work toward a $10 credit anymore? Really?
They used to have good customer service, kind, helpful, and for the customer. Now it’s clear their customer service just wants you to shut up and accept what they tell you. They’ve taken away many of the perks of being a client, and just jerk you around trying to get what they can from you in interest, it did not used to feel this way.
They just lowered my credit limit AGAIN
They just lowered my credit limit today. AGAIN. I've been paying on my balance, which is a promotional deal and will be paying it off on time in August. Yet they continue to lower my limit whenever there is about $200 available. Each time it's a ding to my credit score. It's not just Care Credit either - Synchrony has done this to me on EVERY single card I have that they service. It's not me either - my other cards continue to raise my limits. The interest rate is extremely high, and if you have more than one promotional purchase, carefully monitor how your payment is applied. This card is NOT worth it.
My $5500 LIMIT was dropped to $1100. My payments always made before due date sometimes week or so and double/triple minimum payment. Only have $1100 currently charged and THIS is what they do to me?!!
I wish I could've chosen under 1 star!! I'm so upset right now. Trying to do everything right with payments and responsible balance... Pay before due date with double/ triple payments above minimum payment and they drop my LIMIT by$4500?!!!!! Yea....I can really see how much they CARE. It's all business and nothing personal i know. What a world we live in. This WAS a big help for my family. They apparently don't need my business THAT bad. Their loss. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE FOLKS OBVIOUSLY!!! I called them and voiced my disgust and I get... sorry ma'am have a nice day😡😡😡
I have dental implants I need to pay…
I have dental implants I need to pay for. My HSA does not have the sufficient funds in it as of now. I raised my contributions significantly but need the work done now. My dentist told me about CareCredit. Before I applied, I wanted to find out if they will take payment from my HSA card (Visa), you know pay with tax free money for the dental work. The rep. said sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesn't. Not really the answer I was looking for like yes or no. As I asked her another question, she started talking over me and was very rude, so I got louder and put her in her place. After reading a handful of the 93% negative reviews, I am only guessing that the HSA cards never go through, I would find out after I have already made purchases on the account and am stuck with their inflated interest rates. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. Glad I did my research.

My 2-year-old puppy was poisoned by an unknown person. When we noticed she was ill. We took her to the vet. We needed $2000 to try to save her life. I had a $4000 limit on my carecredit. I quickly learned that they reduced my limit to $1000. When I asked why. After all, I never missed a payment. My credit score was over 700. My pay history was excellent. They said it was because I had high balances on 2 other cards. I said that was true when they increased my limit to $4000. My puppy died. 😭😭
