A great holiday by rail to Switzerland. The Byway team designed a superb route and hotels were just right.

Great advice at the planning stage. Immediate and effective on line support during the trip. A wonderful tour of exciting places with smooth, fun and "green" rail travel. We will use Byway again

We booked the Byway trip to Marrakesh. My husband and young adult children were somewhat sceptical about the amount of time we would spend on the train. No need to fear - we all loved it. A great adventure crossing through France and Spain and then catching the ferry to north Africa. Adequate time spent in each place (although we did extend our stay in Fez to 3 nights rather than 2). As well as all the beautiful places we passed through, the travel was also a great part of the adventure. Would strongly recommend this trip. Byways made everything so very easy - even details like how to book Paris Metro tickets ahead so you did not have to queue at a ticket machine on arrival. It was great fun each evening downloading all the tickets and speculating on the next day of exploration. So sad to have to fly home due to time pressures. Would highly recommend this travel company.

Fantastically organised. Itinery was great and easy to follow directions. Locations and hotels were fab and all train tickets booked with seating. Caledonian sleeper was cancelled at midnight in kings cross. There was no support from them but lynne at byway rearranged onward travel and refunded our emergency accomodation. Byway support was fantastic.

Booked our 2week holiday through Byway travel company. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. All our queries were answered promptly. Train journeys were organised and everything explained clearly. All hotels were perfect and location of all really convenient.

From first enquiry to arrival at my final destination, the efficiency and support of the Byway team was exemplary. During the trip there were a few hiccups, neither their fault nor mine, and there was always a speedy response and resolution.
During the planning and pre-travel periods, the team members were available, helpful and responsive.

Great way to see more of the country as you travel. We saw the bulk of the UK, Scotland and ended with a ferry ride to Ireland. All accomodations were cosy; descriptions were accurate; the one time we required support, they were right there !

Really superb service from start to finish. Really enjoyed the hotel they arranged in Barcelona, which was so well situated for the train station and city. When I missed a connection due to a train delay, the online help was very helpful and reassuring meaning problems were quickly solved. I would highly recommend Byway for independant train travellors

Visited some wonderful places, stayed in fantastic hotels, with great advice and support from Byway. We had some ideas of where we wanted to go but they made the trip extra special by suggesting stops and navigating the travel for us and offering hotel suggestions.

This was our first holiday abroad since 2020 and our priority was to travel in a climate friendly way. Byway tailored our holiday around our preferred travel dates, booking trains and hotels along the way and informing us about any timetabling issues promptly so these could be dealt with straightaway. The journey guide enabled us to load our tickets when needed secure in the knowledge that they were there on a WhatsApp chat if required. We were impressed with the quality of the hotels we stayed in and the trains booked for us, often first class. Our first holiday will certainly not be our last holiday with Byway.

This was our second trip via Byway. It suits us very well to be indapendant & unsupervised but to know there's someone there help if things go seriously wrong.

This was a short journey to northern France and it all went to plan. The small family owned hotels booked by Byway are always a joy.

The organisation of our trip was absolutely first rate. Prior to and during our trip the website link was invaluable. It gave us all we needed to know about the trains we would use, hotel locations and information, information about the places we visited, and more. Byway also did an online tutorial about using the Interrail app. It all made us feel very confident about travelling by train. The WhatsApp link whilst travelling was invaluable. A train was diverted, engineering works caused another train not to run, and we had a little trouble accessing entry to one of the stopovers; The WhatsApp link team were FANTASTIC and everything was sorted out quickly and without fuss.
If you want train travel in Europe, I would whole-heartedly recommend this company.

Really interesting itineraries, very carefully planned and presented. Byways were always on hand to answer any questions. They kept us updated and we couldn’t have had a better experience. Hotels we stayed in were all good. We’d definitely travel with Byways again.

Just completed our second trip with Byway and cannot fault them. Great advice and suggested itinerary which we tweaked with their help. Visited London, Turin, Lecco, Chur, Bern and Paris. Excellent support, pointers for things to do and found the Byway Favourite hotels to be very good indeed.

Customer service very good, particularly curating the journey and suggesting possible itineraries from a basic outline. Hotel selection also good.

We have had a wonderful trip in France - booked with byway. The organisation was amazing and the transport connections were smooth and easy - even with 3 kids in tow. The hotels were all perfect for our needs too. Excellent customer support. Only regret is not finding ByWay sooner

Excellent company who provide an excellent service. They guide through the creation, nuts and bolts of setting up the trip in a simple personalised way. They are available immeadiately via WhatsApp during the trip and able and willing to manage problems. Very customer orientated. Only word of caution is check accommodation suits you.

Had 5 days in Scotland, all booked for us. Sleeper, trains, transfers, hotels. Just picked up phone and it was sorted in 10 mins. So much easier, a real treat. Don't forget to ask for the type of seats you want on the train!

Due to adverse weather conditions some of our trains were cancelled. Byways were amazing at keeping us informed, rebooking trains and hotels for us. If we had been travelling independently it would have been really difficult.

We have just returned from our first Byway holiday and it will definitely not be our last. We used the concierge service to create a personalised trip based on just a few key things we wanted to included (the Bernina Express and city breaks in Florence and Bologna). The suggested itinerary was provided very quickly and was excellent and well thought through. I think we requested 1 or 2 minor tweaks. It was very easy to see alternative hotel options and make adjustments to those and train timings prior to finalising things.
After booking, the information provided was clear annd comprehensive. All our tickets and seat reservations were very easy to access throughout the trip. We only needed to check on one thing whilst away due to a train being cancelled - the response was very quickly and very helpful, which gave us confidence if we needed more serious help it would have been available.
We found travelling by train to be much more relaxing than flying (and I quite like flying!) and it gave us so much flexibility - on a couple of occasions we decided to take an earlier train than originally planned and it was very simple and quick to update our interrail pass.
