Introductory climbing course and glacier travel course (Jotunheimen)
I did the introductory climbing and the Jotunheimen glacier travel courses from Bre.no in August 2024.
Teachers are (in my opinion) highly qualified experts in climbing/glacier travel and rescue with many years of experience and very skilled and patient at teaching people at different levels. A lot of material is taught especially in the climbing course. Safety is a top priority.
I am from Denmark and in one course joined a small Norwegian group, while in the other it was fully Danish group (teacher as well as students). You may want to ask Ove about different language groups but I think English is usually an option if necessary.
The 'base camp' of the climbing course is a nice campsite in the small city of Lom, with lots of shopping options, and some nice restaurants and bakeries.
The Jotunheimen glacier travel course base camp is in a beautiful location next to the Smørstabb glacier. It is without modern facilities, but there is a very nice common tent with a stove to keep warm and with space for cooking. It's possible to walk ~45 minutes to a nearby tourist association (DNT) hut and pay for a shower there, if the nearby stream is too cold. If planing to come by public transportation: The public bus will stop very close to the site, if you ask the driver.
Needless to say, it helps to be in good shape. In the glacier course and on the "mountain days" of the climbing course there can be quite a bit of hiking to get to/from the destinations.
Recommended for an active and adventurous holiday in the Norwegian mountains :)
