The cover generator says I have used all my allotment kn my first try.
Human help is confusing. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I don't speak Techize.
I see potential, but the learning curve is enormous.

Hello Susan, thank you for the honest account, and sorry for the hours this has cost you. You are not doing anything wrong; twelve attempts without a result you can use means we have not explained the tool well enough, and that is on us.
Two things worth knowing. The Quality Control finding errors and tired tropes is the tool working as intended: a first draft is meant to be checked, and the same screen fixes what it finds with one click, Polish for the errors and Rewrite for the tropes. And the cover message about your allowance does not come from BookyAI: covers are generated through your own OpenAI or Gemini account, and that message means that account has no image credit left, which happens on a brand new OpenAI account or on Gemini's free tier after a few images.
Adding a small amount of credit at OpenAI, or switching the cover engine to the other provider in Settings, fixes it in two minutes, and we will gladly do that step with you.
Most of all, you should not have to learn "Techize". Please write to support and mention this review, and a person from our team, not the chat assistant, will walk you through your book from start to a clean, publishable export, at your pace.
You have already seen the potential; let us show you the rest.

Your book is in the Library, the first screen you see when BookyAI opens: every book you have started is listed there, with its progress, and one click reopens it exactly where you left off.
And there is no limit from BookyAI on how many books you can write in a day; the only pacing comes from the free AI key you connected, which has its own daily quota, and the app waits and continues automatically when that quota resets.
If anything is still unclear, open the live chat inside BookyAI and Alexander will walk you through it step by step, in a few minutes. We would rather show you than have you struggle.

The most flexible AI writing platform available (Goodbye, credit systems)
I originally bought BookyAI through a Facebook ad because I wanted to break something—I wanted to test the limits of my older computers (an RTX 2060 and 3070) and of the 4070 I borrowed from my boyfriend. I also secretly wondered if the hype around longform book writing with AI is overrated or not. TLDR: I would 100% recommend this software!
Main reasons:
No Suffocating Credit Systems: Their software completely frees you from the restrictive, pay-per-word credit models that dominate other AI writing platforms.
Ultimate Flexibility: You are not locked into a closed ecosystem. You can hook the software directly into your own local Ollama instance, OpenRouter, or direct API keys for Claude, Gemini, Grok, and OpenAI. I ran an entire 30-chapter novel locally without paying a cent in API fees.
Lightning-Fast Support: The software is actively evolving with regular, meaningful updates. When I ran into an incomplete-generation/chapter truncation timeout bug during my stress tests, their development team was incredibly responsive and deployed a patch to squash the bug within 24 hours.
Clean Narrative Control: The interface relies on standard, easy-to-use dropdowns that make it simple to lock in your Genre (like Cozy Fantasy), Target Audience, Tone, Writing Style, and Narration. It also handles chapter pipelines and back-matter generation seamlessly. You can also write in your own voice (and almost every other field), and they just added the ability to add book series, book and series "bibles", consistent characters, and more features that I have not yet played with.
This software works great "out of the box" for the less tech oriented people, and is a tinkerer's dream if you want to use and customize the other features. BookyAI has too many awesome features to remark on here!
If you want total flexibility and control over your writing pipeline without being nickel-and-dimed by commercial APIs, this is exactly the tool you need.

So much fun
First, I was suspicious of paying for a scam. But to my great relief, it was not! After a hiccup with the API key it all went well, and so far I tried the same prompt with different settings just to see the differences. Fun! It really is fun! Easily customizable and it let me incorporate stories I had started years ago and never finished. I don't -have- to accept what the AI writes. I can just take the ideas it gives me when I get stuck, or I can let it write me a whole book when I get bored for something new to read! The possibilities are endless...
