I am genuinely shocked by how poor my experience with BlackBear Fitness has been. After spending £1,850 on a full Smith machine, I expected a professional product backed by professional customer service. Instead, I have been left frustrated, disappointed, and questioning why I chose this company in the first place.

The customer service is, without doubt, one of the worst aspects of the entire experience. Trying to get a response from BlackBear Fitness is like talking to a brick wall. Emails take ages to be answered, and when you have questions regarding a product of this size and complexity, waiting days for a response is simply unacceptable. When customers are spending close to £2,000, communication should be a priority, not an afterthought.

The assembly instructions are absolutely appalling. I honestly cannot understand how a company can sell a product at this price point and provide instructions of such poor quality. The manual is unclear, lacks detail, and appears to have been put together with very little effort or consideration for the customer. Some diagrams are difficult to understand, important steps are not explained properly, and there is far too much room for guesswork. At several stages of the build, I found myself having to stop and try to work out what the instructions were actually trying to tell me.

What should have been an exciting purchase quickly turned into a stressful and time-consuming headache. Instead of enjoying the process of setting up a premium piece of gym equipment, I spent hours trying to decipher poorly written instructions and searching for answers that should have been included in the manual from the start.

The most frustrating part is that this isn't a budget product. This is a machine that costs £1,850. At that price, customers should expect clear instructions, responsive support, and a company that actually values its customers after the sale has been made. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite. It feels as though the focus is entirely on securing the sale, with very little concern for the customer once the money has changed hands.

I have purchased gym equipment from other suppliers in the past and have never encountered such poor communication or such badly prepared assembly instructions. Even products costing a fraction of the price have come with clearer manuals and better support than what I received here.

The machine itself may look impressive, but the overall customer experience has left a very sour taste. When you spend this kind of money, you expect quality throughout the entire process—from ordering, to delivery, to assembly, to after-sales support. BlackBear Fitness has fallen far short of those expectations.

If you're considering spending a significant amount of money with this company, I would strongly advise you to think carefully and do plenty of research first. Had I known what the experience would be like, I would have looked elsewhere. Between the painfully slow responses, lack of helpful support, and the dreadful assembly instructions, this has been one of the most frustrating purchases I have made.

A premium price should come with a premium experience. Unfortunately, that is not what I received from BlackBearFitness.

Great quality products and incredible value for money. Hands down, the best customer service experience of any company I have ever dealt with!! Anthony was excellent. Even after a mishap that turned out to be the fault of the courier, all issues were promptly resolved. This is a company that really values their customers and I could not recommend them more. I will definitely be buying from here again. 11/10 all round!!!

Great sales and communication 🤌🏼

Ordered & collected a home gym set up recently, barbell, weight plates, crash mats & a squat rack, very happy with all & the squat rack was simple to put together. Everything is exceptionally priced when compared to similar products from other companies & the quality matches those higher priced products.
Communication from Anthony has been nothing short of excellent, he has been very responsive to messages & quick to help.
Will definitely be purchasing again to add to the setup once we move & have the space

I was very impressed with the politeness and professionalism when visited Blackbeard Fitness while I was in the area and I was shown around the showroom floor and I was amazed on what was on offer .

Overall - good value equipment and customer service were quick to respond when contacted, but a frustrating experience with deliveries spread over 2 weeks and lack of clarity about items coming separately.

Collars delivered (from a barbell and plate bundle) were not the ones pictured.

Perfect bench, rack, barbell and plates. Couldn’t ask for anything other than Blackbear, pricing on point.

I made the order two weeks ago, order 15890 and the website said they have 10 in stock and I can get it within two days delivery. It has been 14 days and I still haven’t received my benches. Or even a tracking number. I have tried to call the company over 10 times and every time have been sent to voicemail. Emailed about my issue, and they sent me a tracking number dated back in 2025. So I can’t contact them to get a refund, I want my bench this week! As they still have ten in stock according to the website. My PT studio opens in a week so need these straight away or refund to get them elsewhere.

My recent experience with buying a leg extension and leg curl machine from Blackbear Fitness was excellent. From initial ordering to communications re delivery, this company surpassed all expectations and I would totally recommend Blackbear Fitness.

Brilliant experience with Anthony at Blackbear fitness. Highly recommended and had I had the space to install and setup more equipment I would. 100% will be a returning customer.
A small issue with my order was resolved without hesitation and communication maintained throughout.

I would give a 0 if I could. Ordered on the 2nd May with 1-2 working days delivery. It’s the 14th and had nothing. Emailed to chase and had no response. The tracking app has no details on it. Appalling service. Avoid!

Ordered a tricep extension machine..
Asked for the red one got told red been sent out ..after about a week got told it got delivered to wrong address so will I have the black I accepted.. when that arrived the box was very badly damaged and all taped together but there was a piece of the box missing ..
Contacted them with photos to let them know ..
When putting the machine together not only was it quite scratched in places but the handle end caps was missing ..
Again contacted them told them the issue.. I can live with the scratches but need the handle end caps.. after contacting them twice they apologised and said they will send out the caps.. to this day there have never arrived.. and I’ve tried to contact them three times via email with no reply to all three their phones are not connected .. all in all not a good company to do business with from my perspective

Avoid. The finish on the 14kg bell I ordered was poor. The handle had really sharp edges that would need sanding off before the bell would be usable.
I wrote to Blackbear and sent photos. When they finally replied, they offered me a partial refund or exchange. I requested an exchange, so as to give them another chance, but then heard nothing. I chased them a week later but with no success. Very poor service.

After receiving an email to inform me that the product I ordered was out of stock, I replied to say that I wanted a refund. I have not received a refund or the product nor have I received another email.

Can’t fault Blackbear , prompt delivery always on hand should a problem arise and all products areas displayed which is great

There was an issue with my original order where it was seemingly lost in process of being shipped by the shipping company. I emailed blackbearfitness and Anthony replied promptly and immediately had a new one shipped out to me. Got it the next day 😊.
The product itself is well made although the velcro for the strap would benefit from being stronger ( or maybe having a built in strap design?)

Either way, great experience with the company and Anthony is a stellar guy!
