Our aim is simple: to offer truly wonderful experiences in truly exceptional houses, for groups of friends and families. We have curated our fabulous collection of large houses to rent with great care. Each and every house has been hand-picked with those truly wonderful experiences in mind. All have oodles of space, luxury as standard, and unique features that add the ‘wow’ factor.
We’re a family business. It started with just the two of us; husband and wife duo, Gareth and Claire Allen. We’re developing a team of lovely like-minded people around us as we grow, who will make sure we never lose that family business feel. And that means we’ll never lose that level of personal service that our wonderful guests have come to love.
We are selective. And unapologetically so. We feature only houses we’d be genuinely excited about staying in ourselves. It’s not about numbers for us – we’re happy to keep our collection of properties small and beautiful if that means we can recommend each property with confidence and pride.

White Gable House
We stayed at White Gable House for the weekend celebrating a Ruby Anniversary. We were overwhelmed with the size of the property and the facilities available, we all had a great time and would recommend and will use the Big House Experience for our next booking.

Hen do weekend
We had the most amazing stay at Keswick Country Manor House for a hen do—it truly exceeded all expectations. The house itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful interiors and plenty of space for a large group. Everything was spotlessly clean and incredibly well equipped, especially when it came to catering for bigger numbers—there was more than enough crockery, utensils, and all the little extras that made hosting easy and stress-free.
The scenery surrounding the property is simply outstanding, with breathtaking views that made the whole experience feel extra special. The location is also perfect—close enough to town to be convenient, but still peaceful and scenic.
Communication from start to finish was second to none, which made organising everything so much smoother. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough—it was the perfect setting for a memorable hen do!

We had the most incredible stay at this house and honestly didn’t want to leave. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The property was beautifully presented, spotless, and clearly very well cared for.
The attention to detail really stood out – from the cosy furnishings to all the thoughtful extras that made it feel like a true home away from home. Every room was comfortable and stylish, and we had everything we could possibly need during our stay.
The location was also ideal, peaceful and relaxing while still being close enough to everything we wanted to do. It felt like the perfect escape.
What really made it special was how welcoming and easy everything was. You can tell the hosts genuinely care about making guests have the best experience possible.
We absolutely loved our time here and will 100% be returning in the future. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay!

Almost Perfect
The Big House Experience team did a terrific job and looked after us wonderfully. Also, Heidi, the housekeeper at Lulworth House where we stayed, could not have been kinder or more helpful. The house itself is extraordinary, a beautiful property in a stunning position. We were happy and comfortable there. However, within the property, there were aspects that need improvement. The house is heavily used and, perhaps as a result, some of the pots and pans, kitchen equipment and fittings need replacing or updating. Certain items that you might expect to be offered at a premium price property were not available. We have indicated these to the enormously kind and helpful housekeeper. But, overall, it is a stunning house, spacious and situated quite beautifully. It made the perfect backdrop to a very happy birthday celebration. Thank you.

Wow at Tregulland
Wow! There are not enough superlatives to describe our stay at Tregulland Cottage and Barn. For the weekend we stayed with our extended family including children and grandchildren and then just great grown ups for the rest of the week. This set up worked really well for us. The children enjoyed the extensive grounds, the playground, the treasure trail, the toys and the POOL, as did the adults and yes we did go down the slide and do the treasure trail when they had gone. We also appreciated the well stocked kitchens, the comfortable beds with super linen, towels and robes, the food delivery service from Vicki and the huge dining table. Communication was great and all the staff friendly and helpful. The pool was definitely the favourite amongst all the guests and is incredible. So clean and refreshing and the perfect temperature. Despite the weather everybody commented on a wonderful relaxing stay and are keen to return. Thank you.

An excellent house for our party
An excellent house for our party. We would like to make a few comments - Kitchen good, equipment not ideal for us. No milk jug, mugs large and too chunky, drinks fridge would be good.
All the ensuites need toilet roll holders.
Our room -with wet room ensuite . the door would not shut. The plug in the basin did not work.
Croquet lawn needs mowing and fewer dandelions.
