Good car and pickup/dropoff when we fond where to go.
Milan airport had changed since our last visit and it was difficult to find the right place for both pickup and dropoff. Clearer instructions and signs would have helped us save time and effort.

We rented a car via booking.com in…
We rented a car via booking.com in Italy. Autovia didn't accept our credit card, they didn't accept our debit card and we didn't get the car. We called their customer support (from EU, their support is in UK) this 15 min call cost us 50 EUR. We got no help and at the end got asked to rate their service (haha) after we got to know that we will not receive a refund for a car we didn't get.
We then had to come back to the airport and overpay for the car from another provider (luckly they had a car available).
To summarise: we lost~300 EUR and ~2 hours of our trip

Dear Customer,
we are sorry for the inconvenience experienced at pick-up and understand the frustration of not being able to use a booking that had already been made.
To release the vehicle, a physical credit card in the customer’s name is required and must be technically suitable to cover the security deposit, excess amounts, possible extras and contractual obligations. Debit cards, prepaid cards, virtual cards or similar payment tools are generally not accepted as a guarantee.
This information is stated in the pick-up requirements, in the voucher and in the conditions provided during the booking process. Booking.com also lists all the requirements needed to collect the vehicle, both during the booking process and after confirmation.
Without a suitable guarantee card, the rental cannot be completed under the standard conditions and a failed pick-up due to missing requirements is not refundable. We are also sorry that the phone assistance was not perceived as helpful.

My 8-day booking was cancelled even though I had already paid an 80% advance. The cancellation happened simply because I arrived 3 hours late for the pickup.
Their policies seem heavily biased against customers. After cancelling my booking, they attempted to rent the same car to someone else at nearly double the original price while refusing to provide a refund. Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing and felt unfair and misleading.

Reservations are held within the tolerance periods stated in the rental conditions; beyond those limits, vehicle availability can no longer be guaranteed and a no-show may not be refundable. Any new rental proposal is made according to the availability and rates applicable at that time.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - con artists - when arriving at the pickup desk . handed over my visa credit for the deposit and was told that they wouldn't accept it despite it being a compliant card according to my booking voucher ( Halifax clarity credit card). was told the only way around it was if i purchased there top insurance coverage at an additional 250euros. the same thing happened to 3 other members of the group we were in despite us trying multiple different credit cards.

Any proposal of full coverage is an alternative and discretionary solution intended to eliminate the excess amounts and make the rental possible even when the card is not considered suitable. Acceptance of this option always remains entirely voluntary.
We firmly reject the accusation that we are “con artists.” We consider this statement seriously damaging to our company’s reputation and potentially defamatory. Customers are fully entitled to criticise the service received, but allegations of fraudulent conduct should not be made without concrete and verifiable evidence.

Never rent a car from Autovia unless you are willing to be scammed.
My recommendation is the same as before never rent a car from this company. The saga continues, so Autovia think that a pinprick(not even a chip) on a windcreen justifies a charge of €842 when epoxy would easily repair for max of €100. Their Trust Pilot team suggested I contacted customer services who would assist with a more transparent approach. I will let you form your own view as to whether the Trust Pilot team just provide a platitude so they can say they deal with complaints within 24 hours and whether the customer services team are useful. All I requested is copy of the repairers invoice supporting the charge of. €842. Clearly it does not exist.

As we already explained to you, the damage found at the return of your rental was not present on the list of the preexisting damages on the second page of the contract.
Furthermore, there were no notifications to our staff indicating different damages at the beginning of the rental. So, the damage is under your responsibility.
Please consider that our technicians have controlled your case, and they confirm that the original assessment of your situation remains unchanged.

All charges applied at the end of a rental are based on the Terms and Conditions accepted at the time of booking and vehicle collection. As specified in our policy, damages to certain parts of the vehicle — including windscreen and glass components — are not covered by the standard limitation of liability and remain the responsibility of the customer, unless additional protection has been purchased.
Regarding the amount charged, please note that damage costs are not determined by a simple “repair vs. epoxy” assessment, but are calculated according to predefined criteria based on industry repair standards and technical evaluations. These include safety considerations and manufacturer guidelines, which often require full replacement even in the case of small impacts.

Addebito danni dopo la riconsegna: esperienza pessima e gestione opaca
Esperienza pessima con Autovia (Milano Linate). Ho riconsegnato l’auto il 28/01/2026 e non mi è stato contestato nulla al momento della consegna. Successivamente mi è stato attribuito un “nuovo danno” al parabrezza con richiesta di €857.
Il punto più grave: i miei recapiti erano stati inseriti in modo errato, quindi non ho ricevuto tempestivamente comunicazioni utili e non ho potuto gestire la pratica o contestare in modo ordinato. Nel frattempo l’importo è stato addebitato direttamente, senza che me ne accorgessi subito e senza una gestione trasparente/chiara prima dell’addebito.
Durante il noleggio non ho avuto incidenti né urti e trovo inaccettabile scoprire dopo la riconsegna un addebito così alto (dalla foto non si evince che sia effettivamente la macchina che abbiamo noleggiato), con comunicazioni confuse e recapiti sbagliati. Sensazione di totale mancanza di trasparenza e tutela del cliente. Sconsigliata.

Desideriamo chiarire che, come previsto dalle procedure di noleggio, il veicolo viene sottoposto a controlli anche successivamente alla restituzione, al fine di individuare eventuali danni non immediatamente visibili (cosiddetti “danni occulti”). In questi casi, il cliente viene informato con documentazione a supporto prima dell’eventuale addebito.
Ci dispiace particolarmente per quanto segnali riguardo ai recapiti errati: si tratta di un aspetto molto importante, poiché una comunicazione corretta e tempestiva è fondamentale per garantire trasparenza e permettere al cliente di gestire eventuali contestazioni. Questo punto sarà oggetto di verifica interna.

Al mio arrivo, un addetto al banco mi ha fatto riflettere che l'auto prenotata era troppo piccola per i miei bagagli ( attrezzatura da sci ) , così mi ha proposto una vettura decisamente più comoda, con una piccola differenza di prezzo. Devo ringraziare la persona che mi ha dato la macchina, perché è stata perfetta per la nostra vacanza.
