The instructors were very responsive and got back quickly at all times to my questions so that it felt like a live classroom. The curriculum was very thorough, well structured and flowed well. The quality of the instruction and the videos and interactive slides all worked very well. I was particularly impressed with the MOB drills and jumping in the lifeboat. This was a great course and I learned a great deal and enjoyed it as well.

This course is super well-structured and covers everything you need to know. The instructors are really friendly and they’re quick to respond to questions. I highly recommend it!

The presentation of the material by both video and slides works very well. It really does feel like personal tuition and all interactions whether they be questions on the subject matter or help with the Knowledge tests are quick, friendly and engaging.
Originally I hesitated at the extra cost compared to others but the recommendation persuaded me and I am so glad I did. It has been worth every penny.

I have just completed and passed my Day Skipper course with Ardent Training. I found the online course well paced, great blend of video, sketches and text. Great bite sized modules. Enjoyed all the presenters esp liked seeing them on board and being very authentic. I felt encouraged and supported throughout the course. And I feel confident to now put it into practice when I take some hands on sailing instruction in Greece later this year. How good!! Thank you Ardent Training.

Can't recommend Ardent Training enough for Day Skipper Theory.

The teaching is all provided using original video content, which has been professionally created by a group of people who are clearly passionate about what they do.

The course was slightly more expensive than some alternative options, but the enjoyable nature of the teaching, support & an excellent online portal more than offset the price.

Utterly brilliant. I have completed lots of distance learning in my time but this really has really been the best. The team are real, passionate, professional and supportive.

Fabulous resources and the support they describe is absolutely there for you. It has been a joy to work through the Day Skipper modules - right on to the exam next.

Passed my Day Skipper Theory this week (Feb 2026) with Ardent Training. Fantastic course, so much support available every day. The videos/text/graphics are clear and explanatory. Instructors available very quickly via chat function for anything you don't understand. As someone who hates maths/calculations I was stressed about doing the course as thought I wouldn't manage the exams, but Ardent really are excellent. If you're in doubt, don't be, just go for it!

Firstly what a fabulous group of friendly helpful trainers. Needing to do an online course due to work commitments Ardent came recommended by my local sailing school and they were so right to recommend them. The online classroom appears to operate seamlessly with the trainers very supportive and always on hand to help out when needed.
So glad I went with Ardent Training.

The video lessons, personal experience and examples are very helpful. Mixing it up with multiple instructors is nice. Teaching the day skipper as if little previous experience or knowledge, for me, is a plus.

Ardent training produce amazing online training for RYA courses. I have now completed Day Skipper and Yachtmaster with Ardent Training. The interactive videos are great, you can switch between in person and a presentation format. Knowledge quizs which help to check your understanding and modules at the send of each section. Plus mock exam, to see where extra revision may be required.
In addition their online support is great, questions through the chat are always answer within a couple of minutes, with detailed responses by one the experts at Ardent Training.
They enabled me to pass my exams with confidence and have given me a solid grounding in all of the techniques.
Finally, they provided excellent templates that help you calculate tidal heights, and most important plan passages.

I fully agree with all of the other positive reviews here. The course content, delivery and presentation style were first class.
There was a genuine enthusiasm from each of the instructors I engaged with along the way during my Day Skipper theory course.
Their knowledge, combined with the teaching method, absolutely works.

I did the day skipper course and appreciated the online video format as this allowed me to do the course at flexible times that suited me. With topics that I found more challenging, I could go back and repeat at the sections until I had consolidated the information. I feel much better prepared for the practical part of day skipper than I would have been on a five day in person course.

The videos and end of topic quizzes worked well and it was impressive how quickly the instructors would respond if I had a question about something I didn’t understand. The Monday evening seminars were informative and often really interesting. It gave a nice opportunity to meet the instructors in real life.

Overall, a really good course and definitely recommended.
