Horrible experience, motorhome tire rim has a big dent and they said it is safe to drive, we insisted to have it replaced before heading out, tires are not properly inflated, the campervan is not fully charge, the refrigerator is not working so food was wasted, sink is clogged before we even use it, toilet smells, cockroaches and dirts in the dining area and all of this on the first day we got the campervan and per there report it is fully charge, clean and ready to go, not functioning air conditioning during the Australian summer heat. We reported it to the customer service and that interactions is poor as well, you can not get an actual help, they could not replace the campervan the next day we need to go to a different location to have it replace and the replacement has the same issue with the AC, so far the toilet, sink and refrigerator is working. At the end of the trip we informed the branch assistant manager and filed a dispute and to this day they denied everything. So be cautious in renting using this company and the umbrella company THL . reported my experience to NSW consumer affair office

We rented a van for a month while travelling in New Zealand. There were some minor issues with the van, but THL’s support team came to the rescue. Leaking motorhome, zero support

Apollo is a subsidiary of THL, who are ridiculously indifferent if you have any issues with your rental. We had two leaks where it was raining onto our beds, we had to use pots and towels to keep at least some of the water out. That’s on top of rear light issues, dirt, a broken awning pole and dodgy bed slats.
Because we had overseas visitors and camp spots booked, we couldn't just drop the motorhome off for days to be inspected so they told us to just fix it with duct tape. After promising an "appropriate refund," they ignored my emails. We then played phone tag for a bit. When they finally called back, I was at work and asked if I could call back in a few min, they gave me a 15-minute ultimatum to return the call or they’d close my case. A complete lack of empathy or basic quality control. Case is now going to NSW Fair Trading

After his and his wife's 8th attempt at trying to park the van in the process runs into my mates caravan and just pulls away while it was witnessed by so many I have contacted apollo and have had no response to my emails just ignoring me for 2 weeks now, anyway this driver was foriegn had no idea how to drive campervan amd should not be on the road in tasmania way to dangerous watch out everyone in tas.

Poorly maintained vehicle with many things broken

Poorly maintained vehicle. It was filthy. Empty water tank to start with, supposed to be full, so ran out of water in remote camping day 2. Broken draws, keys. The worst where the tyres. So bald it wouldn't have passed rego, no tread on them. Broken camping table and cheap camp chairs with bird poo on them.
AC broken, wouldn't turn off when plugged into mains power. Took 3 calls and 4 days to rectify a single fix, in the meantime couldn't use power.
Lacking basic cleaning and kitchen basics. Hired from Perth

No compassion at all.

Today I went to pick-up an Apolo motorhome for my daughter to stay in for four days.
The motorhome was organised and paid for through a 3rd party company, almost $1,000.00.
After waiting over 2hrs we were finally attended to. I was told a $5,000.00 bond would be required although insurance was paid for through the booking company, but this is not recognised by Apolo Motorhomes.
I phoned my daughter for a decision who was booked to fly to Perth from Canberra tomorrow.
She was crying before I spoke to her as she just found out her partner was diagnosed with cancer a short time earlier.
She was in no condition to travel and asked me to cancel the booking.
I explained all this to the Apolo rep. and asked for a refund on compassionate grounds considering the circumstances.
The Apolo rep asked her boss but was told
their terms and conditions stated no refunds under any conditions if cancelled on the day of pick-up.
The motorhome is now available to hire to someone else, money for nothing!!!
NO COMPASSION AT ALL. All I can say is Apolo Motorhomes are a COLD, NON CARING MONEY GRABBING company
Shame on you Apolo.
Won't be using your services ever again.

Overall summary - disappointing!

I rented a camper van (in this case a Euro Tourer which is a Mercedes Sprinter) and was debating whether to save some money by going with Mighty, which channel essentially older Apollo vehicles which get moved to the Mighty fleet when they are three years old….

In the end, I paid the extra money for a “newer “ vehicle. this Apollo vehicle was almost 4 years old and was still on their fleet. Well functional, it just seemed very tired and wasn’t as new and fresh as expected.

The handover process in Auckland was brief to the point of basically being useless And essentially we had to figure everything out ourselves. The guy who did the handover was utterly disinterested.

We had an auxiliary fan heater and the first time I plugged in it started to spark so I immediately disconnected it and never used it again.

On the plus side, the windscreen was hit by a large rock thrown up by a truck and the Support/Service team were very helpful and they got the windscreen replaced next day

Overall, very disappointed in the vehicle, but the one highlight was the young lady in Queenstown when I handed the vehicle back as she was just a bundle of enthusiasm and a credit to the company.

The gave us a broken Campervan

The 4x4 campervan we got should never be rented out.

PERTH
We where at 9:00 am at de pick-up spot in Perth but the camper was not ready. It was 3:00 pm when we finnaly got the camper, by that time it was too late for driving far from Perth so we hat to stay near Perth.

The next Days we find out that the camper had the following issues.

- the battery wasn't charged
- when using the windshield wipers the rubber come loose.
- the rearview camera display falls of every time
- when opening the glove compartment it falls completly from the dashboard.
- after doing groceries we found out the gas stove was broken.
- the air compressor was broken.
- the left mirror was only attached at the bottom site, so this mirror makes al lot off noise when driving.
- the kitchen hatch lock broke.
- when steering too far the steering box knocks.

when the kitchen hatch broke we called the service, they could not do anything until we reached the city of Broome. (that was two days).
till that time we had to tape the hatch ???

BROOME
In Broome we got an other gas stove and a better air compressor.
the windshield wipers got glued, they did not have new ones.
they also glued the door and set an other lock on the kitchen hatch.

when driving for 20 minutes the lock broke again.
we turned around and they fixed it again ???

Near Kununurra the camper turns right, it was not steering, so we stopt and called service again.
The send a mechanic but he could not find the problem, he changed a tire and gave the following advise "Drive slowly"

The next day the Kitchen hatch broke again.

we paid 6000 euros (10.500 AUD) for this camper including insurance, hoping we got a great offroad experience. But we didn't dare to go offroad with this car. The worst thing about it was that they knew about this problems but rented out this camper anyway.

they ruined our holiday

When we returned the Campervan in Darwin they offered a bottle of wine and a refund of 300 Euro.
I was so stupid to accept this, but now 5 weeks later i stil did not have received this refund.

Misleading Camper Van Listings and Lack of Transparency in Rentals

Listed picture of Camper Van shows a Mercedes but the vehicle might be completely different. Thankfully we clarified before booking.
I am alright as long as the alternatives falls under the list that was subsequently clarified.
But what's horrifying is that the customer support Michele came back to us saying that she will not reveal the ALTERNATIVE possible models.

Customers should be left guessing until collection? Renting a illustrated European Car only to be given a Japanese vehicle isn't HONEST.

We hired a 4WD camper for 6 weeks to do a Kimberly WA tour. The 4WD never missed a beat, even though we took it through rivers and over roads that nearly rattled my teeth out. We needed support once and Apollo had our back. I will hire from them again.

Expensive nightmare

We rented a motorhome through Chepa Campa operated by Apollo, we traveled for 22 days and we had a small accident resulting in a scratch and 2 small cracks on the side of the fibreglass of the motorhome. It didn’t affect any mechanical part since it was on the body of the vehicle. When we returned the motohome one of the Apollo staff told us it wasn’t a very deep scratch and crack and it should cost between $300 and $1000, which for us was fair enough.
For our surprise, after chasing them for 1 week, they reply back charging an outrageous $5500 for the damage (pretty much the exact amount we pay for the bond, funny, no?)
We got another quote of $780 for the exact same job, also we sent the pictures to several repair companies and they were all chocked with this quote.
Apollo simply ignored us, since we had paid the $5000 bond in a debit card, and they already had our money.
Again, we were happy to pay for the damage, but for a fair price.
They also input some engine check and a bunch of things just to get our money.
We really thought they were a genuine company but they are totally untrustworthy.
We sent the $780 quote, which they obviously didn’t reply as well.
Thanks Apollo/Chepa Campa to make our holidays become a nightmare, and a very expensive one.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

We had a great time in our Maui Euro Plus Camper Van. We travelled to the Flinders Ranges and stayed in Rawnsley Park Station. The van was clean and everything worked. We did have a minor accident which we reported straight away filling out an Incident Report Form through their helpful thl app. The team were so helpful and the customer service was great. We hired from 740 Main North Road Parafield -- thank you Vicki for all your help
Will definitely hire from thl again for our next adventure holiday :)

AC was broken, we were promised a refund but they started to ignore our emails and did not refund anything at all. Would not have written this review if they took the effort to fix the problems, but apparently they prefer a disappointed customer over a happy one. Booking ref: TMX 710836-1

My wife and I were looking for a motor…

My wife and I were looking for a motor home and after son research we decided on a Windsor Simpson as we really liked the layout so purchased a secondhand Windsor Simpson Motor home from a deceased estate sale. The motor home is a 2021 model and had only traveled 4,500 kilometers.
The house battery's needed replacing (not unusual), apart from that there did not appear to be anything else wrong with it.
The motor home is fitted with a BMPro battery monitoring system with BMpro 20amp DC-DC charger as well as a Trek monitor.
I put a new house battery in thinking all would be well, however, this was not to be, I found that whenever we put the fridge on 12v we were losing battery power even though the monitor in the motor home indicated that the battery was receiving positive charge from the alternator.
Upon investigating I found that the fridge wiring bypasses BMPro battery monitoring system, in other words the fridge draws its power straight from the battery and does not show the power usage on the Trek monitor. Dometic fridges use approximately 23-25 amps, the monitor was showing that the input power from the alternator was approximately 18 amps, so I assumed that adequate power was being put into the battery, however, this was not the case, if you deduct the fridge usage from the input, we have a short fall of approximately - 5-7amps
Clearly Apollo would krow this we they build the motor homes and clearly the 12v instalation is not fit for purpouse.
I suspect the the instalation of a 20 amp DC-DC charge instaed of a 30amp DC-DC charger is th save Apollo approximately $100.
I am lucky I know enough and have the equipment to find the problem, most people would have to pay an Auto Electrician to find out why their battery was going flat, for the sake of $100 Mr. Apollo I don't think it is good enough.

Apollo was great

We were treated kindly and the inclusive packages were well thought-through eg good cooking facilities and bedding supplies. Un requested upgraded van to include aircon due to intense heat in the Top End. Thank you Deb, Jason and Apollo Darwin.

My recent rental experience with Apollo Campervan Hire was an unmitigated disaster, and I strongly advise against entrusting them with your travel plans. Brace yourself for a narrative of incompetence and neglect.
Rental Process: Picture this: I specifically requested a cozy two-seater layout from Hippy Campers via Campervan Rental Shop. What did I get? A clunky four-seater Apollo monstrosity. And thus began the saga of being tossed between apathetic representatives like a hot potato. Campervan Rental Shop pointed fingers at Apollo, who, in turn, shuffled me around like a deck of cards. No one took responsibility; everyone passed the blame.
Vehicle Condition: Now, let's talk about the sorry state of the vehicle they dared to call roadworthy. From the get-go, it was evident that maintenance was a foreign concept to Apollo. Worn-out tires? Check. Filthy interior reminiscent of a dumpster? Double check. And let's not forget the electrical system, which seemed to have a vendetta against functioning properly. Oh, and did I mention the leaking roof? It turned our adventure into a soggy mess, damaging our belongings and dampening our spirits.
Customer Service: Diane from the Sydney office deserves a special mention for her stunning lack of helpfulness. Promises of callbacks? Empty. Follow-ups? Non-existent. And my formal complaint? Lost in the void of indifference. Despite their alleged commitment to respond within 14 days, the silence is deafening. It's abundantly clear that Apollo's idea of customer service is as mythical as their namesake.
In summary, Apollo Campervan Hire's performance was a spectacular display of failure. For the hefty price tag attached, you'd expect more than a comedy of errors and sheer incompetence. Spare yourself the agony and seek alternatives. Your sanity (and your wallet) will thank you.

Complaint about @Apollo Motorhome customer service:
It has been 4 weeks since I returned from Tasmania having hired an Apollo Deluxe 4/6 birth Motorhome from Hobart Airport for 22 days, costing over $7000.
The front passenger side tyre had significant wear on the tyre that it was deemed illegal from Beaurepaires. I sent THL road support photos of the two front tyres and they asked for us to get them replaced ASAP. We were lucky that we had not had any rain up until then.

We also had no working awning due to parts missing and no working TV in this top of the range Apollo Motorhome.

All three issues were raised with the Hobart manager, Michael, when we returned the vehicle, and I asked for a partial refund to compensate for the poor standard of the vehicle which impacted our hire and required us to backtrack for tyre replacements, but Michael said it was above his level of responsibility.

I was told that Joanne from customer service would call me within the week.
I have since tried to contact the customer care team to no avail.

Warning: please do your due diligences when hiring from Apollo Motorhomes. Check that everything is working before departure, because once they have your money all type of customer service dries up.

Shame on you Apollo Motorhomes for hiring out a non roadworthy vehicle which could have resulted in catastrophic injuries to ourselves or other road users on the winding roads of the wild east coast.

I hope Apollo Motorhome staff read this review and reach out.

Apollo Adelaide...appalling!
Hired van Dec 4, 2023. Van was shabby, engine warning light came on after 50 kms, sleeping cushions threadbare, and service person couldn't give a stuff.
Rang roadside service re warning light ...."you should be ok, just keep driving"....Thus the next week was tense, awaiting to see if I broke down back of beyond. When returning can, service lady was told of all problems...."ok...want a cab? " and that was it. Never Apollo...try Indy campers
