If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Didn’t get the chaps name, but he happily spent an hour with me showing me more than half a dozen shoes to try on. Granted it’s midweek but there was zero time pressure and happy for me to go back and forth so I could make the right decision.

So rare these days to have an independent shop with a wide range of stock, shoes, clothes, and gear (everything from vests, to mobility, to lighting) Clearly the staff are very knowledgable and all runners themselves. Running kit isn’t cheap and so this really gives peace of mind over online shopping so for me very worth the trip over from Winchester.

Honestly, this will be the only I will buy running gear in the future couldn't recommend enough

Great local running store offering a great range of shoes. The staff really care about good service and sending you away with the right shoes and kit.

Alan and the team were so helpful with some issues I had with my trainers. They contacted the company and sorted a new pair for me. Totally hassle free and great customer service! Thank you all 😀

Placed order on Sunday and received Wednesday.

I purchase a set of Leki trail running poles at a small discount for £140, RRP £164.99. On the eBay listing it states they use Royal Mail tracked, they shipped the item via Amazon shipping, I never received my poles, I got one default response from Alton sports and that was just the tracking number and to check surrounding areas,

I raised a case through EBay which I lost, appealed then lost again. Proceeded with PayPal disputes and got my money back, this company is a grift don’t buy from Alton sports.

Hat arrived, scuffed, discolored and dirty. Clearly zero effort is made when it comes to quality control and care for the products they sell.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT buy anything from this store! I bought a pair of trekking poles mid May, allegedly they were delivered when I was away. Of course they used the worst, cheapest delivery service which is Amazon Shipping…no photo of delivery, no details, nothing! Checked with neighbours when I got back and it was nowhere to be found. Contacted Alton Sports and while they seemed fairly interested at the beginning and eager to solve the issue, with time they started ignoring my messages. They are not interested as the tracking says delivered so I should have it, period. DO NOT make the same mistake as I did, and read reviews before you’ll decide to purchase anything from them (better yet do not even go to their website) as they are not interested in taking any responsibility for lost items whatsoever. 3 weeks later I’m without money or the item ordered. Will be contacting my bank to solve the issue as they are absolutely useless🤬

Have just started couch 2 5k and needed to upgrade my 15 year old pair of running trainers. I have an old Achilles injury and an underdeveloped calf muscle as a result and was getting pains in my legs during and after the runs. I went to the Farnham store and a lovely guy (didn’t catch his name) was so helpful and very knowledgeable, analysed my gait on the treadmill and offered advice as to the best type of shoe to support my leg. I tried a number of shoes running in the treadmill and went for the Hoka Bondi. Tried them out yesterday and was amazed, no pain in my calf or hips on the run or post run the next morning. I would highly recommend this shop for great service, advice and choice of running shoes. Thank you so much I would never have thought that the right pair of trainers could make such a difference!

Ordered some Mizuno trainers yesterday and amazed to find delivered next day - as good as Amazon! Price was excellent less than half retail price. Even managed to find promo code for extra discount online so despite small delivery charge of £3.99 still way cheaper than others.

Sent out second hand scratched sunglasses as its a reflective surface its hard to get a photo - but you can clearly see that the box in the pic has an amazon logo on, some of the packaging isn't like a new pair inside the box either. They've clearly been worn a while then returned. They then tried to tell me that all amazon parcels go out with "Amazon warehouse" - Wish I'd checked on here first. They also refused to send a label to send the goods back meaning I've got to cover the cost of their mistake

Ordered an item at a good price, unfortunately the item never came. I tried to contact the courier but was told by them that the seller needs to contact them.

After a few back and fourth messages I was then ignored and they never gave me any further information about the delivery.

I logged both an eBay and PayPal claim and lost both because tracking showed the item delivered, without any further proof, picture/signature etc.

I am completely disappointed by the lack of customer service this company has provided and would definitely avoid in the future.

Looking into the comments on trust pilot and eBay it seems this is a common occurrence with the company, so please avoid at all costs!

Horrid experience. Poor communication and constant lies. Wish I'd paid a bit more ans gone elsewhere.

Ordered an item and was told it had been delivered "to garage". I don't own a garage! My neighbour does, and I've checked with them. Nothing had been left outside and the garage itself was locked, so no way it could have been put inside.

I chased them several times for photo evidence of the delivery, and they've failed to send anything.

Under the Consumer Rights Act, they are legally obligated to ensure that a parcel is either delivered to my hands or to a designated safeplace. Neither of these have happened, and so I'm now having to file a claim with Ebay. It seems that others have had this problem too. AVOID!!!!

I received the shoes, but wasn't happy with the fit or colour so emailed Alton Sports to initiate the returns process. They gave me a address to send the shoes back to which I did promptly.
Unfortunately, they were not in when the couriers tried to deliver, so the shoes were left with their neighbour. I wonder if this had something to do with the address they gave me being "temporarily closed" according to Google.
While I understand that the shoes being left with a neighbour is not Alton sports fault, the customer service since then has been diabolical. Four times I have had to budge them for an answer, 3 times I have had to explain the situation from the start, and the last time they replied I simply got a "well the shoes weren't delivered to us so you can't have a refund". I politely asked why it's was so difficult to pop next door to retrieve the shoes and suprise, suprise, received no answer. For all I know they have got the shoes but just don't want to refund them. I haven't got any trust left for this company. All in all, no shoes, nearly £100 out of pocket, and unable to do anything about. Thanks for all the help Alton Sports!

I have recently started running and experienced some foot pain so wanted to ensure I had a pair of trainers that were suitable for my feet and fit properly. I saw that Alton Sports offered a gait analysis so went there and explained my situation. The assistant did not offer any analysis and just said to see what felt most comfortable. I asked if the brands they sold were better than a standard pair of Nike or Adidas trainers for running in and he said no, again, just whatever feels comfortable. I tried on a couple of pairs and went for the most comfortable which were £140. Once home, I googled the brand as I had not heard of them before and found the manufacturer were selling the same trainers for half the price, as were many other retailers. I decided to take these unused trainers back a couple of days later to get a refund but to my surprise I was advised they will only offer an exchange or store credit. Unbelievable. If a shop chooses to refuse refunds, this should be stated at time of purchase. It's disappointing when you support local business but they don't show up with a fair service.

Used the online store for some Altra shoes. Good price, quick delivery. Courier was Amazon. Only issue was the tracking number and links provided didn't work. Lucky I was in, as the courier was going to leave my shoes in the street.

I'd use Alton again if they fix their tracking and change no-answer delivery advice to Amazon.

Item was not delivered. Alton sports passed me into Fruugo - the courier. Would not admit fault. No exchange or refund offered and now £60 down. Terrible company. Avoid avoid avoid.

A few years ago I bought some running shoes from Farnham Alton sports shop and the guy found me the perfect shoes in no more than 10 minutes. Outstanding service and a great price. They have lasted me years as they were such great quality.

The last few months I have been on the hunt for a new pair of shoes and have had a lot of trouble sending back items and spending hours in different shops trying to find the perfect shoe. Then I remembered Alton Sports shop in Farnham. I booked a train and again without fail they had the perfect shoe for me. The service was very efficient, warm and friendly.
These shoes are beautiful and I’m so excited to get going with parkrun once again. Thank you so much to the guy that helped me today I am a very happy man!

Would absolutely recommend this place if you are unsure. And this is a very glowing review not biased or false advertising😂

I have looked forever to get the right shoes and I am so blown away by how quick and easy it was to find the right shoe yet again!
