alsurplus.com Arvostelua

Great price, speed of fulfillment and customer support for sales.
Facts:
*Saved 33%,$1000,for a Bosch induction cooktop over Best Buy or Home Depot for an "open-box" new unit.
*Shipped and delivered from AL to TX in two days from purchase.
*Cooktop exactly as described, new and in perfect condition.
*Able to register and activate warranty with Bosch.

Opinion and the reason it is not 5 stars:
*It was suggested that I cancel my original purchase thru
eBay and buy directly from ALsurplus to save additional money - ethical issue.
*No inside delivery, installation or removal of old equipment offered or to my knowledge available.
*"Pig in a poke" - you have to unbox your item and install it before you can determine if it is indeed as described but this would be true if you had it shipped directly to you from any vendor. You can't refuse delivery unless visibly damaged. If there is a problem with the unit you have to deal with the vendor in Alabama.

I am reporting a deliberate fraud scheme by online seller Alsurplus1, based in Alabama.

The seller lists appliances on eBay with free shipping to attract buyers. After a buyer expresses interest, the seller contacts them through eBay's messaging system and instructs them to call directly to complete the transaction. This moves the sale off eBay's platform, stripping the buyer of all platform-based consumer protections and eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

Once off-platform, the seller changes the shipping terms — free shipping becomes a requirement for the buyer to arrange and pay for liftgate delivery. This bait-and-switch on shipping terms is the mechanism used to justify taking the transaction off-platform.

I purchased a refrigerator through this scheme for $2,100. The unit arrived with broken glass inside the cavity, which was not disclosed in the listing or at any point during the transaction. I have been unable to obtain meaningful recourse because the transaction was completed outside of eBay at the seller's explicit instruction.

I have documentation including the original eBay listing, the seller's off-platform solicitation message sent through eBay's own messaging system, and photographs of the undisclosed broken glass upon delivery.

This appears to be a systematic practice designed to defraud consumers by exploiting platform trust while evading platform protections.
