The API works fine, no real complaints about that, but the billing, and dashboard is a literal flaming dumpster fire. Its beyond me how they can literally make it worse with every single iteration.

Their latest genius idea? Lets make a chatbot that nobody wanted, uses or asked for the default landing on the dashboard? Not usage, not anything anyone would want. This useless trashy AI slop that nobody wants has now invaded their dashboard and is totally unwelcome.

Meanwhile, they randomly overhauled the billing model, for the 3rd time in 2 years, and constantly send emails that don't even make sense, and disagree with their documentation.

This company is unhinged, I'll be moving on literally the second I can.

Terrible experience for a production app.
I migrated to Agora from another provider for voice calling in my iOS app (50,000+ users). Within the first month, my free tier minutes were consumed in 3-4 days, so I upgraded to the Starter plan ($49.50/month).
Two major issues:
1. Billing: When I upgraded, the 9,000+ minutes I had already used on the FREE plan were deducted from my paid Starter plan. So I paid for 50,000 minutes but only received ~41,000. Support confirmed this is “by design.” I’ve never seen any other service charge paid minutes for free-tier usage.
2. Account Suspension: My account was suspended without any prior warning while my app was live in the App Store with active users. The reason given was first “suspicious activity,” then later changed to “exceeded minutes.” My users couldn’t make calls until I resolved it.
Support was slow and kept deflecting. The sales team reached out only after I threatened to leave, but offered nothing concrete — just tried to upsell me to a more expensive plan.
I ended up building my own calling system with WebRTC. Lower cost, no risk of random suspensions, and I own my infrastructure.
Would not recommend for any production application.

Terrible experience with Agora.io's support. Opening a ticket is unnecessarily complicated, and once you manage to submit one, they simply don't reply. On top of that, I was charged twice for the same service with no explanation or communication whatsoever. Completely unacceptable for a company that markets itself as a professional solution.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Agora. My project was automatically archived when credits ran out, and when I tried to restore it, the system kept giving “Invalid OTP” no matter how many times I tried. I attempted every troubleshooting method (different browsers, incognito, clearing cache, multiple OTPs), but nothing worked.

I reached out to support, but instead of resolving the OTP issue, they insisted that they had emailed me earlier. I never received any email, and when I contacted the person directly, I got an out-of-office auto-reply. This created even more delays while my app remained down.

I then purchased an additional 25,000 RTC minutes, hoping this would restore the project. Shockingly, the credits showed as already used immediately after purchase—even though my project was still archived and I hadn’t consumed any new minutes.

This billing behavior is unacceptable. Paid credits should not be deducted instantly without restoring the service. My application has over 100 active users, and it has been offline for days simply because Agora’s verification and account restoration process is broken.

Support is extremely slow, keeps redirecting, and has not provided any practical solution despite repeated follow-ups. My project is still inaccessible, and my paid credits haven’t been applied properly.

Agora really needs to fix their OTP verification, restore projects promptly, and provide reliable customer support. Right now, the experience has been frustrating, confusing, and highly unprofessional.

I cannot recommend Agora based on this experience.
