Deceptive sales practices

Similar to prior reviews, the company said we signed up for a monthly "VIP membership" and began charging us $39.95/month. Before we understood what was happening we had 3 charges on our credit card. I called and received a full refund for one charge and a partial refund for the other 2. I found the receipt where it indicates we did NOT sign up for a VIP membership but customer service said we were enrolled in a "21 day free trial" that needed to be cancelled if we did not wish to continue. This is deceptive marketing and I would caution people not to use this company again.

The company has apologized (below) and indicated they would "reach out to make things right". They have never done so.

Vincent was very prompt and helpful in assisting me with the resolution of this issue.
While I’m not happy with the fact I was unknowingly signed up for membership, which has now cost me over $49, I am grateful Vincent made this unfortunate situation a bit more tolerable by refunding the full cost of the 2nd installment.

I purchased one item and apparently…

I purchased one item and apparently inadvertently signed up for a VIP membership. I would NEVER have done that. When management became aware of my dissatisfaction, they reached out and refunded my money. That’s good customer service!

VIP membership that was not wanted

VIP membership that was not wanted. On checkout page they expect you to uncheck the box, if not you will be charged again and again. Using the online unsubscribe was a waste of time as the charges continued. Very deceptive business practice to say the least.

they charge a membership fee that i never signed up for. they say i click the small box. also in the terms they are to tell you 5-7 days prior that a recurring charge is getting posted never DID. This membership i believe is a scam watch out

One star is for the fact that I…

One star is for the fact that I received a hummingbird house. Unknown to me is that the order includes a ‘free’ membership to what I don’t know. My account has been charged regularly since May. It is now September. I finally spoke to customer service who will only refund 1/2 of the two outstanding charges. I’m told the account is closed. Do not deal with these people.

Bait and switch

They offered ceramic flowers that were textured so that bees could hold tightly to them when stopping in for a drink. I found some elsewhere for 1/3 of the price but they were not textured. I ordered theirs and paid extra for the texturing. The ones I received were the same ones available elsewhere for much less money. Bait and switch.

10/9/2026 Today I received an email contact from Aethoma. Apparently their solution to screwing me on my order is to add me to their mailing list just in case I want to buy more from them.

10/13/2026 Today I received an email and a phone call from support. They offered me a 40% refund in the email. In my response I said my preference would be to receive the product they advertised, and that I ordered. Next best would be a full refund. Better than nothing would be a partial refund. During the call we discussed this and I was promised a 50% refund and the opportunity to check out the new version of the product when it is available. I emphasized the importance of texturing on the flowers, which was in their advertising, because bees cannot hold themselves in place on the glaze of the flowers. They need something coarse enough to hang on to. He said he will pass my feedback uphill.
We'll see. I always appreciate companies that respond to the meaningful feedback they receive. We're all just human after all.
