Digital Artist: HEALED!!!
TO ALL ARTISTS (*DIGITAL ESPECIALLY) WITH WRIST PAIN:
These guys are the real deal. If you're struggling with chronic wrist or elbow pain that doesn't get better with rest, please consider giving this program a try. I'm an animator and toy designer in the toy industry and I needed help. I sustained a catastrophic wrist injury in 2018 that stayed with me for 8 years. The program at 1HP is the only thing in 8 years that's helped after exhausting my options with other medical professionals, physical therapists, psychologists, accupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other professionals.
When I finally got my dream job designing toys, I reached my wrist's limit in only 3 months and had to take medical leave to heal. The wrist specialist I was seeing at USC at the time recommended 4 weeks of rest, ice, and lite physical therapy.
I'd been through that treatment plan twice before, and was worse off for it both times, so I sought a second opinion. Through recommendations on reddit and youtube, I found 1HP. They had glowing reviews from other artists, musicians, game devs, programmers, and gamers. My work has be sit at a desk on the computer all day, so I really related to the life experiences of their other patients and really felt like they had a good chance of helping me.
I checked out their youtube page, where they put out an enormous library of free resources. I HIGHLY recommend you check that out and read up on their philosophy and approach, because their dedication to their research on RSI's and science-backed treatment plans is what really sold me on their program.
I booked the free consultation and met with Elliot, who tested my endurance with a 4lb weight and showed me exactly where my limits were in terms of the endurance of my tendons and muscles in my wrist. He was the first medical professional to tell me that I could heal with some time and dedication, and that everything I'd experienced thus far was reversible. I was relieved. So so so relieved I can't even tell you. Most doctors up to this point had told me I was better off giving up my dreams and switching careers to avoid the pain.
What I love most about this program is their wholistic approach to healing. There's recommended reading to help you better understand what's going on in your body and mind, physical exercises, perscribed specific exercises to help you gain your specifically lost abilities back, and guided CBT exercises to help battle fear and tend to the psychological effects of losing abilities that are important to your daily function and health of your identity as a creative who uses their hands.
I went from 45% function to 75% function in 6 weeks. I hope to be at 100% function in 6-8 more weeks. Most people take a bit longer, because my RSI wasn't super severe (even though I felt like it was!), so please work that into your expectations to set yourself up for success, but the bottom line is that their approach worked for me, and if you're an artist it could work for you too.
The path to healing isn't linear. I experienced two setbacks with flare-ups that filled me with doubt and fear, but 1HP provides an entire guide to flare-ups that got me through them and kept me on track to healing. Investing the time and money I spent on this program turned my life around. I would still be on medical leave from work (and considering a career change) if I hadn't found this program when I did.
If you're an artist, and you suffer with repeated pain in your wrist or elbow, please consider 1HP to help you.
