Got up early this morning to visit my local lidl in selby to purchase an item from their leaflet that was arriving on sale that day. Sought help when I could not find any stock.The shop floor staff were very helpful and also called the manager who said there was none and hadn't been any stock of this item.I tried to say to him I had travelled a long distance specifically to buy this purchase.He was very curt and said 'this is nothing to do with me'.I am over 70 and left the store very upset with the mis-advertising and the lack of customer service.

Lidl charging stations are very unreliable, in the space of 2 days I have visited 2 different Lidl charging locations, the first one was in Bishops Stortford - £40 taken as pre-authorisation which they can hold on to for a week if it's done via the Lidl app, but up to 4 weeks if done with a credit or debit card if you are unable to get charge. So last night I had one preauthorisation taken and today I went to Laindon and was faced with one that did not release the charger - 40 quid held and then on the second charger, it just didn't fire up, the app just kept spinning around - how frustrating... another 40 quid taken... so now Lidl has £120 of my money... should it not be instant refunds or maybe the a process improvement where the store can refund you directly should be explored.... with somebody who is rushing around all day every day how can you keep a track of all these failures, the whole structure is just not well thought through I'm afraid.

Avoid Lidl Goole – Completely Disgraceful Experience
If I could give this store zero stars, I would. Shopping at Lidl Goole felt less like a modern supermarket experience and more like surviving a bleak, post-war rationing exercise.
The staff at the checkout couldn't be bothered if they tried. The guy running the lane—specifically the one with the beard—was literally half-a-sleep and showed absolutely zero interest in helping or acknowledging customers. But being completely disengaged isn't even the worst part: his total lack of basic food safety knowledge is actively dangerous.
He nonchalantly packed chemical household cleaners—soaps, bleach, and kitchen sprays—directly in with fresh food items. A primary school child knows that you never put toxic chemicals next to consumable food, yet this guy passed them right through together without a second thought. It is completely pathetic, hazardous, and unacceptable.
Lidl Goole is an absolute disgrace to basic customer service and food handling standards. Management needs to wake up, pull their staff together, and actually train them on elementary hygiene before somebody gets poisoned. Save yourself the headache and safety risk—shop somewhere else.!!!!!

Things getting worse regarding stock. A supermarket that only has fat free greek style yoghurt?? Alcohol free only bottles no cans! Been like this for awhile now. Don't stock soda water...list goes on. Only self serve checkout available but when challenged had to finish emptying boxes first. Then like magic 3 members of staff appeared if only to converse with each other. Not sure when I'll be back not worth it!! Now going elsewhere to finish my shopping. Not good enough Lidl

I was impressed with the variety and pricing of the fresh fruit and vegetables. However I bought a bottle of Baxters baby beetroot 2 days ago. When I ate the beetroot today it was very soft, lacked any texture and the vinegar was very bitter, hitting the back of my throat, causing me to cough and as the beetroot went down my gullet there was a powerful. burning sensation.
To my shock when I read the use by date it was October 2021, just 5 years out of date.
I tried to make a complaint via their customer services I found it impossible to navigate having made quite a few attempts.
Any advice would be welcome

Parked in the car park ! Entered my number as requested but still got a ticket ! Have appealed but why do Lidl outsource and penalise customers for shopping with them !

Walworth road Lidl -Last night we waited from near the entrance to the exit to pay ? when I asked for the manager and suggested maybe he go along the line an apologies and explain he said its not my fault -weve taken away 2 till and a re closing ealry ? Listen to your customers and take responsiblitly a smile and a sorry goes a long way.... -we need smaller trolleys and less self service -they dont work and i dont get paid to pack my own groceries .... the store is too small to restock at the buseist times also -this is a trip hazard and make the place look terrible .. I also dont want to be yelled at which selfservise to use... im a custo,er not a contestant...

What a stroppy checkout named Clare won't be going in that Lidl again

Other leading stores. The jams are watery and not cheap! Coffee is not strong so not cost effective. Coldly deluxe is tough!

I have no problem with the store. Some of their staffs are rude and no
sense of humour. I grabbed a plastic bag to the place which is nearer to me. But this black staff lady, called me and said, plastic bags are here (she's talking about the bags that near to her). Why would I go grab a bag near to her when there is a bag nearer to me? I felt like, she's thinking I am a thief for just a plastic bag. Oh man. I felt humiliated.

Yesterday I bought some strawberries and when I went to eat them half of them were soggy and inedible. While there was no question about getting a refund the inconvenience is really annoying. Lidl’s stock control is poor. When I returned the strawberries today Sunday, at midday probably the busiest time of the week I had to negotiate two members of staff with large trolleys refilling shelves and get round other large trolleys left in passageways. Not good when the store was so busy. Lidl will have to smarten up.

The manager at the Alphington store had a terrible attitude after charging for two items when only one was bought. I called him down after being charged twice for two items in my trolley and my wife was also affected. This isn’t the first time I’ve been back for this; it’s happened five other times. This time I asked for the manager and told him the customers were being scammed. He replied, “Well, not you as you’ve got your money back.” He was very cocky. Just think, as a manager, he dealt with this very unprofessionally. Because of this, I’ve made a complaint to the relevant authorities. This is happening all over the stores. I’ve looked it up and reported similar incidents across different stores and staff being rude to customers.

Terrible experience at Parr Bridge Lidl – Serious concerns about staff behaviour and hygiene

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Parr Bridge Lidl on 20 August 2026 at around 1pm.

One particular member of staff, a shorter man wearing glasses with visible tattoos, was extremely rude and impolite towards customers. His attitude and manner were very unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable while shopping.

What concerned me even more was the hygiene issue. On the same day, when I went to buy items from the bakery section, I saw this staff member handling the bread with his bare hands. This caused me serious concern about hygiene and food handling standards.

After seeing this, I honestly do not feel comfortable buying bakery products from Lidl anymore. As a customer, I expect basic hygiene standards to be followed when staff are handling food.

The combination of the staff member's rude attitude and what I witnessed regarding food handling has seriously affected my confidence in shopping at this store and made me feel anxious about returning.

I strongly ask Lidl and the management team to take these concerns seriously and investigate both the staff behaviour and the hygiene standards at the Parr Bridge branch. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, and food should be handled in a safe and hygienic manner.

FORMAL LETTER BEFORE ACTION
RE: Claim under the Equality Act 2010 – Sex Discrimination and Sexual Harassment with injury to feeling with a removal of that member of staff to another store. At Stanningley Leeds store.

This has been sent through to Lidl Customer Service and Data Protection departments as the comment of called "love" is not a regional phrase especially with my extensive experience within Financial Services including Banking.

It's a targeted sexist and misogynistic comment to humiliate and cause distress to a person an older woman shopping on her own especially as this white male with gray hair didn't make that comment to the couple in front of myself a male and women.

Went in to Lidl Hessle Rd Hull this morning, you had to struggle to get down the fresh meat aisle as the staff had a cart down there and multiple doors open on the fridges (why don't you stock them before you open?), then down the frozen aisle somebody had abandoned a large metal container, with some cardboard in, again making getting round it difficult (and I didn't have a trolley), and they'd left a bit of shop fitting on the floor for you to trip over. And then to cap it all I tried to use the self service tills. The shop worker was next to useless, trying to solve issues. My papers wouldn't scan, so of he obviously didn't believe me so tried again, then went off to get other newspapers that wouldn't scan, then magazines that wouldn't scan. I lost patience and paid and left them. It must be good to be able to afford for customers to struggle getting round your store, leaving trip hazards, and then not be able to buy items because your tills don't work, and NOT BE BOTHERED.

... and the worst tasting mayo ever.

Most of the strawberries I had didn't taste right would never shop for fruit here again
