I feel very disappointed with the outcome of my treatment

I want to be fair in writing this review because my experience with the company during my initial surgery was actually very good. The staff were professional and I was happy with the care I received at the time.

Unfortunately, my experience after that has been very different.

I initially had treatment for my veins, but unfortunately not all of the veins were taken and I subsequently had to have the procedure repeated. I have now reached a year since my treatment and I am left with significant bruising/skin staining on my legs as well as new thread veins.

I have contacted Vein UK about my concerns. Their response was that these are recognised potential side effects and that they were included within the consent form. I completely understand that complications and side effects can happen, and I am not suggesting that I should have been guaranteed a perfect result.

However, my concern is that I don’t feel the extent of these potential side effects was properly explained to me during my consultation.

There is a big difference between being told that bruising or staining can occur and understanding that you could potentially be left with a significant change in the appearance of your legs for a very prolonged period of time. I also don’t feel that the possibility of developing new thread veins was properly explained to me and, had I understood that this could be the outcome, I would have seriously reconsidered whether to go ahead.

What makes this particularly difficult is that I spent around £3,000 on my treatment. That was a huge amount of money for me, and I worked very hard to save it because I genuinely hoped that I would feel more confident about my legs afterwards.

Instead, a year on, I actually feel less confident about my legs than I did before the treatment.

I have also been advised that I can have the new thread veins treated, but this would be as a separate treatment package at an additional cost. I find this particularly upsetting when the thread veins are something I did not have before the treatment.

I have also been told that sunlight can make the staining darker. However, I have not been away in over a year, I don’t have my legs out when I am out in the UK, and I have never used sunbeds. I have also followed the advice given to me and have been using horse chestnut cream.

I appreciate that no treatment comes without risks, and I am not expecting anyone to guarantee a particular cosmetic result. My disappointment is that I don’t feel I was given a realistic understanding of how bad these side effects could potentially be, how long they could last, and that I could develop new visible thread veins.

I genuinely wish I had known this before spending such a significant amount of money. If I had been given that information during my consultation, I would have made a very different decision.

I am sharing this review because I think prospective patients should be able to make an informed decision and understand that the outcome can sometimes be very different from what they hoped for.

I am not questioning the fact that these are recognised risks. I am questioning whether I was given enough information about the extent and potential impact of those risks before consenting to treatment.

I sincerely hope the company will take this feedback on board, because the last thing I expected after spending so much money was to feel just as unhappy, if not more unhappy, about the appearance of my legs.

Kept well up to date very friendly staff

Every one was very nice pleasant and chatty. I was late for my appointment as went to the wrong address completely my own fault lucky it was only ten minutes away and they were very understanding, they explained everything very well during the procedure and answered all the questions I asked very good experience

Everyone has been so friendly, polite and caring. They have explained the treatment thoroughly as well as the post treatment care.
From the moment you book your first appointment you know they are taking care of you.

Great team,friendly and the treatment easy

Firstly, a very friendly welcome in the reception. My husband was even offered a hot drink whist waiting for me.
The procedure itself was carried out by a friendly surgeon, who talked everything through with me. He was supported by two excellent nurses. Many smiles and much laughter helped me through the procedure.
Aftercare support information was emailed to me, and also explained by the nurse at the time. From experience I also know that should I be concerned about anything there is always someone to listen to you and advice accordingly.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending UK Vein Clinic.

I would highly recommend this clinic! I had my vein procedure done at their Harley Street clinic, and I honestly cannot praise the team enough.
From start to finish, everyone was incredibly professional, kind and welcoming. They really know how to make you feel comfortable and special as a patient. During the procedure, they spoke to me throughout, took the time to get to know me and explained everything that was happening, which made the whole experience feel so relaxed and reassuring.
I was also running a little late for my appointment, and they were very understanding and kindly waited for me, which I really appreciated.
My procedure went extremely well, and I was genuinely impressed by how smooth and professional the entire experience was. I left feeling very well looked after.
Definitely a five-star service. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would highly recommend them to anyone considering treatment!

Excellent communication from conformation to post operation, all staff were friendly and heplful. Only one slight criticism was the changing area was too small and the chair provided was not really accessible.

Staff were fantastic really put you at easy explain every detail clearly, also keep you talking to distract you from the treatment.

The initial appointment, follow-up, treatment and follow-up I have received from UK Vein Clinic have all been superb. The staff explained the procedure to me very clearly, and all of my questions were answered kindly and knowledgeably.

I would thoroughly recommend UK Vein Clinic to anyone dealing with varicose veins or related issues.

I had great experience.Everyone was so kind and welcoming.Fabrizio carried out my ultrasound scan for which is really important to be standing up so they can get full picture of varicose veins to accurately map treatment I would require.Fabrizio was so funny and kind and really made me laugh.I almost forgot why I was there 😂 Next doctor I saw was Dr Jeddy.He also was very nice and welcoming.He explained in detail what treatment I would need and how it was going to be done.I would definitely recommend Harley Street Vein Clinic

Clinic ran on time and the full team from ultrasound to the specialist who explained everything in full detail of the treatment that I needed to have done.

I was nervous when I arrived but I was soon put at ease by the surgeon and the two nurses. My mind was taken off the procedure by being offered music to be played. With sincere thanks to you all.
