I have been a patient with Chris Airey since treatment from testicular cancer almost 10 years ago now. The surgery and subsequent chemotherapy eventually crashed my hormone levels, but the HRT recommended by the NHS and other clinics was a very blunt, 'one-size-fits-all' approach. It wasn't until I worked with Chris on dialling in a personalised regimen that I really started to see the benefits.

9 years on, and I'm in great shape and full of energy - thanks in significant part to the HRT regimen that we devised. I spent a brief period with the clinic which Chris had left, but the service really wasn't the same so I recently followed him to Arc TRT and have been delighted to find the same patient-first, friendly and professional approach continues. Both Chris and Lauren are friendly, approachable and honest.

This practice is an example of the best that private healthcare can provide. My treatment with Arc began when my treatment came across from another clinic where I wasn’t quite feeling the benefits of my treatment. Dr Chris adjusted my protocols and closely monitored my bloodwork quarterly, tracking my thyroid function and some concerns about a continually rising level of prolactin.

A few months ago when my prolactin levels reached a threshold that could require treatment, Dr Chris took the time to have a long conversation with me and discuss possible treatment plans, the typical one being a course of Cabergoline as typically my bloodwork showed a likelihood of a prolactinoma. However, he strongly suggested a pituitary MRI in advance of that to rule out anything else that could be underlying and potentially more serious.

Turns out his instincts were SPOT ON. The MRI showed that I had a 24mm pituitary macroadenoma that was extending into my optic chiasm and on the edge of compressing my carotid arteries and threatening my optic nerves which could have resulted in vision loss if not treated. He referred me for both a specialist neurosurgical and endocrinology consult.

The result was that I was treated as an urgent case, first with endocrinology to treat an underactive thyroid as a result of the mass effect from the tumour squashing my pituitary gland. Second, my neurosurgeon had me submitted to his practice group’s multidisciplinary team to discuss my case as a team of 12 and come up with a plan. They decided that my tumour needed to be removed quickly in order to protect my vision and before the tumour reached a size where removal could be complicated by its proximity to the carotid arteries.

My surgery was done transphenoidally (through the nose) and they were able to remove it in its entirety. The endocrinologist and neurosurgeons were impressed that Dr Chris had the knowledge to take the investigation further instead of simply prescribing a medicine that wouldn’t have had any impact and would have allowed the tumour to continue to grow.

This is excellence in care and I am fortunate to have had this team looking after me the whole way through. The Arc team have made time to discuss updates with me throughout and stay informed on my case. I can’t stress how thankful I am to have their competence and care as I would possibly have not had this picked up without having permanent damage to my vision.

For over a year I was being diagnosed for unexpected weight loss. Over the course of a year I had lost three stone and visible loss of muscle. All the tests had come back showing that I was in really good health and there was no obvious reason for the weight loss other than retirement and a change of lifestyle. Having seen an article on the effects of low testosterone I decided to take a blood test and although my GP agreed to the test felt it wasn’t likely to be a factor. However the numbers came back as low and I was offered treatment on the NHS. A call with Dr Chris explained how he would approach the solution and I agreed to become one of his patients. The treatment and service I have received from him and his team has been great. My weight has now stabilised and my muscles are beginning to return!

The whole process has been really well organised, with clear communication, regular check-ins, and everything I need sent out on time. The blood work process is straightforward, and it gives me confidence that things are being properly monitored rather than left to guesswork.

I’ve felt flat and exhausted for the last year or so. Decided to do the enhanced blood test and found out I was deficient in vitamin D and had issues with my cholesterol. The markers on this test are much more comprehensive than other TRT clinics. Dr Airey gave excellent lifestyle advice to improve my levels and hopefully start feeling like myself again! Brilliant service throughout.
