disgusting service 'we haven't got it & nothing we can do' was advised today all i could say was wow!

Was looked at by guy who was supposedly helping me like I was speaking alien! Then told they don't have the component I was looking for. Asked if there was somewhere else I could go got no answer then told 'nothing we can do' seriously that's customer service and technical support? wow!!! Am disgusted... Usually get such a better service just felt embarrassed and like I shouldn't have asked! Not happy at all!!!

Chesterfield Store Brilliant

Called in quick visit- meet & greet with sincerity, 30 seconds to let me get my bearings then approached.
Required an indoor TV aerial- no nonsense advise & all round professional service. Transaction completed in 10 minutes. Speedy & informative advice given after establishing what I required.

Well done Chesterfield Team - I would recommend you after this visit

Bad Service

Popped in to the Taunton branch this afternoon to buy a hdmi cable I thought the staff would be a little better than when I visited and purchased on other occasions but when I asked for some help I found the staff {most standing around chatting to each other] not the slightest bit interested or helpful in any manner .So as they were not bothered I will not bother to purchase anything from Maplins again!!!!!!!!

Hello Mr Maplin, would you like me to smile as you treat me like a moron??

This is a copy of the message I sent to Maplin (19/03/14). To say I am a little annoyed is understaing it somewhat!

"I have just returned from a 20 mile journey to my local Maplin store only to find, when I got there, that the number of stands had decreased by 30% and likewise the number of products.
I have bought enclosures and fittings within the last year so, when I was directed to an assistant who "knew all about these things", I was stunned to be told "we've never stocked them!"
This was a complete fabrication. I have dealt with this assistant before and he is an uninformed, unconscientious idiot!
I have used your company on numerous occasions over the years as a source of both materials for professional/semi-professional projects and for last minute items required to get me out of a corner and it NOW appears I shall no longer be able to do so.
As you may have ascertained, I am LESS than impressed.
You appear to be turning the store into a tech version of Woolworth!
Yours."

Terrible service from so called managers !

Bought an ether cable 6 days ago so I could update my Blu ray player. Wouldn't work so went to return it. Walked in and said " not sure if it's the player or the cable but it didn't work so could I have a refund. Original packaging was there ( cut the back out to gain acess as there is no other way ) as well as the unmarked cable and instructions. The assistant manager didn't even look up from his clip board and told me there is a 10% repackaging fee on everything. When I questioned him on how do you gain access to the product without cutting the packaging he said its there policy as state on there returns policy. It clearly does not state anywhere on the returns policy printed on the receipt that they charge for repackaging ! I asked if this was the case if it was faulty and He tested the cable and it was fine so it was my player, all the time he barely made eye contact as carried on do other stuff. Still not happy he called the manager down who informed me that not all maplins charge, they don't need to tell people they charging them and regardless of statutory rights this is maplins policy and the 10% was a " good will gesture " and they didn't have to give me any money ! The assistant manager also kept saying I til them the cable was faulty which wasn't the case and I never said t. After the 3rd time me said that I offered to repeat my statement slower for him to understand and for him to stop making false accusations

Good luck getting any service at Epsom with staff like that !!!! Maybe some training would help

Delivery ok. Goods not the best

Technical support wasn't the best so I ended up having to go to my local store. Not much better there but at least I could see the product for myself. Worked ok but quality is poor - not likely to last!

Incompetent

I needed three sticks of RAM.

First they said that they didn't have it. I found one myself and bought it. Checked their website and it said they had 2 more in stock. Ordered them and went back in the same day to the same store and bought two more. Wasted journey.

MAPLINS

On 13th.February 2014 I purchased a Angel Eye Micro Camera from Maplins Hemel Hempstead .I charged the battery but the camera would not power on Whilst waiting for the charge I put a special button provided on.I fully charged it overnight but still no power.I took it back and the assistant manager tried the power button .Nothing he then put back on charge and tried the power again and it worked.He looked at screen and it was fuzzy he told me he thought the jack was defective.He offered me a instant replacement and took this off the sales shelf.I noticed the cellophane was missing and I asked him it was brand new he assured me it was and put the camera on for a second ,the picture looked clear.
I took the camera home very carefully changed the lens to a button.I found this difficult to and not wanting to cause damage took it back to the store.I pointed out that I was given a product with packaging missing and he told me most probably it had been opened for a customer.He put the power on the camera and the screen was fuzzy .he told me I must have damaged the lens and there was nothing he could do for me.I told I had paid £99.99 and had not even powered the camera on.He told it was my fault and that was that.I informed him I would contact a local radio consumer show.He then changed his mind and told me he would send it away.
Numerous emails and when they tested they found at first it gave a clear picture (like he had for the one second shown me in the shop) however after a short time became fuzzy.I was told it was my error.I have received two separate offers.
Firstly a replacement ,I was reluctant because if it goes wrong what I do ,I feel the camera is not durable.Secondly they have offered me a refund less 20 per cent.I have even had one minutes use and how do I know the opened replacement camera was not defective.I have not accepted this offer either.

Click and Collect Wasted Journey

Dont use Maplins Full Stop.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Used click and collect to reserve a reverse Parking Sensor.
Got reservation No confirmed via Email .
Website informs me they would hold the item for seven days.
Reserved around Midnight . Went to collect next morning .
Girl at counter said order Cancelled as someone else also reserved the same item and it was gone.
Wasted my time and my Fuel.

Great product, price and delivery. Glitchy shopping basket

I went online to order some powerline kit on Thursday night. Had a mediocre experience of their website which, on investigation turned out to be partly their rather strange "basket" and partly my pop up blocker needing to be turned off. The product was half the price I was expecting, after research, to pay. It arrived on Saturday morning, was complete with cabling, which was unexpected and welcome, works perfectly. Thought I would say so cos I think if everything is fine, people tend not to mention it!

Dire

Received a weather station in a gift.

The wind speed sender was faulty when first installed. The shop did everything they could to avoid giving me a refund. Finally paid out three months later. I still use Maplin for small items but never again for anything that could be a return.

Good way to loose customers.

Unable to pay online 0844 scam!?

Tried several times to pay online with 3 different cards and PayPal and just kept being told to call the scam line 0844 number. Waste of 15mins of my life!

Don't pay Return Postage!

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 - if you return goods as simply unwanted - and you cancel within 7 days of receipt - and the seller does not specify who pays return postage - The SELLER pays!

It is a breach of the Regulations not to specify who pays.

Neither their Terms and Conditions, nor their Returns Policy, specify who pays. So mark your parcel FREEPOST MAPLINS.

They will tell you otherwise. Don't accept that.

Don't forget to enclose a copy of the Invoice. Get a Returns Number from them and write it on the copy Invoice. Get a free Certificate of Posting from the Post Office.

This company is very difficult to deal with. You will need to persist.

Not so bad..

Visited Eastbourne branch last weekend looking for a spring bar tool for removing watch straps. I knew they had some in stock but couldn't find them.
Asked an assistant who was very helpful , got my item paid and left ..
Yes some of their stuff is expensive, if so just buy elsewhere..

Maplins scam advertising.

As per the deal on hotukdeals I ordered CCTV kit for £29.99. It quickly sold out and next day I got a refund for an alarm clock. Maplins say there was an error and I ordered an alarm clock but looking around the net and asking members on hotukdeals they have all made the same error according to maplins...over 3000 people making the same error???? I and 3000 other members are totally boycotting maplins due to there business advertising ways....the item was bought via amazon and amazon have refused to comment so far......

Maplins will cost you more

Without exception, Maplins charge way and above the internet prices compared on e-bay.
I have a daily news letter from Maplins and find that it is far cheaper to look and shop on e-bay for the same item.
